Add more from Colorado and this year's first secures this easily.

Beyond that, this year's second, Lind, and maybe another small part if Compher and Graves are all they're willing to part with? They can't necessarily ask for a king's ransom given the expansion draft but I don't think they can move both pieces for free either.

Nothing will be done before the expansion draft. But after that a draft pick, 2nd or 3rd plus a cheaper younger nhl replacement player

They aren’t giving away players for cheap

    How's this?

    Colorado Avalanche
    - D Tarmo Reunanen
    - 2021-3rd round pick (BUF)

    New York Rangers
    - D Ryan Graves

No i totally get that for both of them i would more then likely do a 2022 2nd and this years 3rd, but thats not the most outragous asking price

That’s low on graves, Reunanen wouldn’t even make the avs roster.

If they move guys after the draft it has to be for players who can make their line up

A common graves trade is a 2nd and motte. I think that’s something they can live with if compher was taken in the XD

That would be somthing i could almost live with if we could replace motte with a propsect i could easily live with that as motte is our best bottom 6 player and we have issues finding them for some reason tears of joy

Graves = 2nd rounder plus a lower pick or bottom 6 player or prospect
Compher = 3rd rounder or bottom 6 player on a cheaper contract possibly

Post XD trades the Avs aren’t trading Compher for a draft pick especially something that isn’t likely to ever be an NHL player. There is a reason Sakic had Compher’s contract expire the same as MacKinnon, and for all the hate on Compher here he still produced at 30 pt season for a full season and had his best metrics season of his career, is 25 can play special teams and all 3 forward spots. He is not a cap dump no matter what those on here try to say.

Compher for a 3rd is throwing him away, they aren’t doing that.

Maybe undervaluing him but trying to be reasonable. I agree however he isn't a cap dump and had it not been for covid and the flat cap nobody would even be commenting on it.

Its too early to really tell what they would want or do with either of them post XD. Too many unknowns yet. With Graves it depends on the healthy of Erik Johnson, if he looks to be healthy then Avs can move him if not selected in the XD. Next year Giving the Avs Dcore pairings of:

    Toews Makar
    Girard Timmins
    Byram Johnson
    MacDonald

Similar with Compher it all depends on how much Landeskog, Grubauer, Makar all sign for. If hes not picked in the XD he might a casualty of trying to get 1.5m-2m in cap savings.

    Who'd be beating out Reunanen as a 7th D?

IF Avs moved Graves, depth chart would be (and thats not even assuming avs could sign some guys which they very much could do)

    1 Makar
    2 Girard
    3 Toews
    4 Byram
    5 Timmins
    6 Johnson
    7 MacDonald
    8 Barron

Consiering Barron is the Avs top D prospected signed, and Helleseon could sign next year. Reunanen wouldnt see a game unless major major injuries happen and even then might not

And to be honest, Graves and the Rangers org isnt a fit, he had an interview with the Avs saying how he wasn't having Fun playing there and sort of gave up, it wasn't until he was traded and was in the Avs system playing tie the eagles that he was enjoying playing hockey again.
