What is this random Parise signing? Man still has 4 years left on his contract and he can't be bought out for any real benefit.

No from wild. Wild aren't trading dumba for these.

Worst draft in recent memory,,so the first round pick means nothing when wild already have two 1st round pick

Bovquist isn't much of a prospect over Marco rossi, marat Khusnutdinov, & Alexander Khovanov

Pickles, I really hope we re-sign.
And will always leave the light on for Rico.

But Parise will never be a Devil ever again.
The way he left...I don't think we would ever be welcome back.

2021 is not a bad draft year at all - closer to average. Better than 2020 or 2018. Closer to 2016 in overall talent (expect for at #1)

Can we make the pick a 1st (top-10 protected) for next year in the Dumba trade? Getting a 3rd 20's picks in this years draft just isn't exciting for me from a MN standpoint.

I mean that isn't what everyone is saying especially with covid, the 2021 draft is going to be the worst one on a long time

Maybe the draft with the most misaligned picks (better players falling later, lesser but more viewed players earlier).
But other than top few picks, 2021 is certainly a lot better and deeper than 2020 was.

I would say you are the only one I see saying this. Experts, scouts, GM's, all say differently

No one knows who will be good or bust, who will be like natural C's, etc.. because of covid

Funny how every year the upcoming draft class is the best draft class since ever.

Really?

I think what I am saying jives with everything I have read, seen and heard.
The 1st round guys are pretty well-scouted and known.
The middle round guys will have plenty of NHLers and the hit/miss rate may be a little off than normal.
But the 5th, 6th, 7th round are going to have much more 'steals' since some of these under-scouted guys may slip.

So the overall talent is ok, pretty good, maybe just above average...it might just get more spread out over the draft.
The top-5 or top-10 are good, but not as strong as 2020, which was very top-heavy, but thin later on.
And 2022 will be best year since at least 2019, if not 2015.

Something is going to have to happen at this point. Can't have 7M sitting in the press box. Friedman has said there's no real way he sees ZP staying in Minnesota, whether its a trade or a buyout. I don't know exactly how it would shake out, maybe Guerin could do some clever GM'ing to rid of the contract without a buyout. I was just doing a hypothetical signing if he were available.

His buyout is so rough it won’t even save you much cap.

Yeah I mean that's brutal. But like I said, Guerin might have to get creative. Maybe Minnesota unloads him at 50% retained and the other team buys out what is left. Maybe they trade for another bad contract. To be honest I'm looking at this more from NJ side than MIN. I just don't know how you can keep the player at this point.

I actually forgot this was a NJ thread. I just don’t think Parise can be bought out for any real benefit so yeah they may be willing to send him to you 50% retained and probably give you some other assets along with him.

All good, that buyout breakdown was actually really interesting. Will always have some vested interest in Parise, bummed to see the tough situation right now.
