Blow it up and trade some of our best young guys? Thats not how it works

I agree this team needs to blow it up. They are stuck in the middle, too good to be bad, too bad to be good. And they are not a few moves away from contending.
Tkachuk is the best trade chip on this team. Gaudreau and Tkachuk should be the first to go.

Ottawa wins this in a landslide. It’s a tenth overall pick in a weak draft. Valimaki and Dube are both tracking to be first line and first pair.

Take off the homer glasses. Valimaki has top 4 upside for sure, but I don't think Dube is ever more than a middle six player. Neither player is worth a top 10 pick and any draft, and Connor Brown is honestly more valuable than both. Unbelievably lopsided deal

If you think Connor Brown is more valuable the homer glasses are yours. Valimaki had a bad season. Ok. He is 22. To put it in perspective, Calgary wouldn’t trade him for Mark Stone. Never mind Connor Brown. Dube is a 22 year old former Team Canada captain who played top line minutes a ton this season. To say he doesn’t have top line upside is blasphemous. Both have about the same upside as that top 10 pick as well. Past 5 10th overalls excluding 2020 and 2019 are Evan Bouchard, Owen Tippett, Tyson Jost, Mikko Rantanen and Nick Ritchie. Given 2015 was the greatest draft of all time I can assure you Ottawa won’t draft Mikko Rantanen. Bouchard vs Valimaki, I’d only take Bouchard because of Valimakis injuries. Tippett, Jost and Ritchie I can assure you Dube will be better than all with the potential exception of Tippett

With how bad they are on odd years no chance the Flyers trade their Bedard/Michkov lottery ticket for a pending UFA

1. Being captain of team Canada doesn't mean diddly.
2. Playing top line minutes isn't the same as being a top line player. He may have played top line minutes, but he didn't exactly produce.
3. No team in the league is giving a top 10 pick for Either Dube or Valimaki. They aren't bad players, but both will turn 23 before the start of next season, and neither has really shown any glimpses of being real game changing talents,but more likely middle of the lineup contributors. Which again, is not a bad thing, just not worth a top ten pick and a guy with the skillset Connor Brown has coming off a pro rated 30 goal, 50 point season.

Honestly, remove the pick from Columbus entirely and I'd still hesitate. We don't have a Gaudreau to make Monahan look good, so he's basically just more of what we're already strugging with except with a grossly inflated price tag.
