Trade Up for Power

Description
When does Detroit finally stop rebuilding and start looking forward? Loading with prospects as it is, I think they could mortgage another high pick this year into immediate help. Ritchie is a more polished version of Rasmussen who can play on their second line and PP1, Kuhlman can start for them, and Vladar is the pro-ready goalie of the future that they don't have. To add those three and only move back like 20 spots max and give up a slow-developing prospect would help to take the rebuild into a new stage while still adding two first-round prospects with the Caps' and Bruins' picks. If they want John Moore, they can have him too.

I will say that if the Bruins can't get someone who can help right away next year, I would wait. With solid depth in the organization, LHD is to me the target area and Power is the best option. Hughes is good too, but going to college for at least one year. Edvinsson is an option if the Bruins think he's NHL-ready. But without a consensus top pick this year, Power could fall to Detroit and if that is the case, I would pull the trigger 100%. Between Power as your future LD1, Grz locked in at LD 2/3, Lauzon and Vaakanainen figuring things out in the pros, and Lohrei in the system, the Bs will be as set on the left as they are on the right with McAvoy and Carlo. Lauzon's ability to play the off-side could actually lock in their top-six for years to come. While Power develops, I like McCabe as a buy-low LD1 coming off a major injury but with a solid base and experience eating minutes.

That's not getting you a top 5 pick.

That's not gonna cut it. Moving from the top 5 to a late 1st is a significant drop off in talent, especially for a rebuilding team that needs to stock up on top talent. None of the pieces going back would make it worth it.

I really don't think so, tbh. It'll be interesting to see, but I have a feeling McCabe is going to be a good value pickup for somebody.

    Rasmussen+Detroit's 2021 1st round pick top 8 > > > Ritchie+Vlader+Kuhlman+Boston's 2021 1st round pick+Boston's 2021 7th round pick. Yeah not even close. Yzerman laughs and blocks Sweeney's number.

Vladar and ritchie doesn’t get you 20 spots higher in the draft. Cmon man.

The best part is you said you’d only really be 100% behind it if Power was available. Boston doesn’t have the assets to acquire the pick that they’d reasonably move.

Genuinely the most biased trade I've ever seen. Vladar is good but come on, you're gonna have to give up more than scraps for Owen Power. Even if Detroit's pick falls to 8th it's still not worth it.

.......Why would Detroit do this? There is zero reason for Detroit to do this. Ritchie even on a loaded Boston team and playing in the top 6 wasn't even on pace for 40pts. Kuhlman is a depth forward that isn't a starter on any NHL roster. Vladar is a solid young goalie, but he's still pretty unproven at the NHL level. None of these assets are intriguing enough for a team to move back from the early 1st to the end of the 1st round.

Remember in 2015 when Boston tried trading all 3 of their 1st rounders to move up in the draft and no one was willing to deal (although rumors were they had something in place that fell apart). The package you have here isn't worth 2 first rounders to go along with the on you already have. Would you be willing to trade back say 20's spots for some spare parts and guys that aren't really going to move the needle of your franchise? no, no you're not.

What's amazing to me is that although all of the prior 14 comments are absolutely correct, nobody has mentioned the fact that the chance that Power is available at pick number 6 (which is where Detroit is) is about 0.01%. Right now, they don't HAVE a "top-5 pick."

Add your 2014 1st round pick
