Team: 2021-22 Pittsburgh Penguins
Initial Creation Date: May 22, 2021
Published: May 22, 2021
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
there just isn't a lot of cap space.
Bringing in two guys with a little more push to them. Let the youth play because they can't afford to bring anyone else in who isn't basically league min and the market is pretty poor.

cap space and size have to come from somewhere. We can't keep everyone and then sit around and wonder why we get the same results.
Realistically there just isn't a lot of space on this team to move. 5/6 of the top 6 should stay. McCann are Carter are the only 3rd liners we have and Carter probably isn't going anywhere.
If you keep the 4th line what else do you have?

letting go of zuck and bringing in simmonds? he has the ability to score and he'd gladly mix it up with anyone

    Simmonds is washed.
That isn't helping the team win. Especially replacing a guy in the top 6.
We don't need to make TOR mistake of brining in older guys who are done.

Confirmed JT wants to stay. Trade gets declined even if he wants to go.

if Miller wants out it's a hockey trade. Roughly same cap hit, same age, Hoping for a bounce back after he leaves Pittsburgh. Like Brassard, Neal, etc.... Some guys are skilled but just don't mesh here.

But why would we trade a player for a worse player? Just because he allegedly wants out doesn’t mean his value evaporates

    A. yeah usually it does as you have to scramble to move them out before it becomes toxic.
    B. Don't over rate your player.
    C. he's a 40 point player. He had one season than that in like the last 5 years. Come off acting like he's a 70 point player. He's not. These two are very close in production. Hell in 5v5 play Zucker put up more goals this year in 15 less games. So get off your better player pedestal.
