Initial Creation Date: May 24, 2021
Published: May 24, 2021
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
caps need a shake up, mangement isnt happy with kuzy and wants to trade him, Hagelin was a cap dump. Dillion was needed to be traded as we have too many young defence man. Nylander is very good and coming off an injury, Hopefully this lineup provides more skill than girt and we can do more in the regular season and playoffs next year.

Hawks pass. They have 9 Dmen looking for NHL ice time. They don't need another bottom pair Dman to add to the mix.

they really dont have any good top 4 defenders, and keith is very old now. I think they would say yes becuase nylander is coming off an injury

If you think they don't have any good top 4 defenders...ok, that's your opinion. I think Murphy is a good top 4 defender.

The thing is...it doesn't really matter because Dillon isn't good. He'd be fighting for NHL ice time with the other 8 Dmen. I know 100% what's going on with Dillon. It's the same exact move the Hawks did when Keith was at his best. Keith played with Rob Scuderi, David Rundblad, Christian Erhoff, etc... That's how good Keith used to be and that's why Dillon plays soo much with John Carlson. Carlson is REALLY good. He covers up a lot of mistakes.

I don't think you need to add Leason and a pick as a sweetener for Seattle to select Jensen. Jensen was actually good this season, and moving that many assets to just move Jensen isn't the best option there. At this point, consider exposing veteran players in the expansion draft that you may have been planning on protecting if you had a better playoff run, and protect younger skill players instead.

Jensen was decent this year, but there is a surplus of draftable defencemand and i dont see leason ever being an impactful nhl player so its better to trade him. also we needed to creat more roster space for young defenders and clear cap

Murphy is an ok top four defender. But Dillion has been very, very good this year. Analytically he was one of the best offensive defenceman in the entire nhl with an ok defence. Analytics take out team mate impact aswell. Dillion is a ver good top 4 defender but the capitals need to get rid of players and the Blackhawks need a top 4 d man. Dillion is still very good without carlson, please actually look at stats before saying something like that.

We don't have anyone of real quality on the right side of the defense that isn't in the NHL already. Leason was also a lot better in Hershey this season (20 points in 33 games). I think it's too early to give up on him.

On the draft-able front - it's going to be really far-fetched that a late first rounder (from the Leafs' pick) is going to be NHL ready day one. If you're going to move defensemen, move Dillon - and that opens up two spots on the left side for Fehervary and Alexeyev (if he's ready). You could also move Schultz instead to open up a spot for TvR.

Orlov and Jensen would be a tremendous pairing together, and they should be the first pairing. Carlson needs reduced minutes if his playoff performance becomes the norm.

I see AO trying to extort a 4 year / $12.7M deal from the CAPS to be the highest paid player in the league when he breaks Gretzky's record in 4 years.

i doubt it, his camp reported that he was seeking an 11.5x4 before the season but this season will impact his price

I like shultz plus he has only 1 year left on his deal so if we need to we can move him up and down the lineup or even trade him. Jensen is an ok top 6 defender but playing first pairing is way too much, at most he should be a fringe top 4 guy.

its alot easier to move defeneceman side to side rather than forwards. The draft pick isnt expected to be in the NHL for atleast 2-3 years, its just a future asset. Maybe we flip it at the deadline. Leason is decent but i really dont see him becoming more than a fourth line power forward because of his skating.

That requires having a coach willing to play defensemen on their off-hand side though lol
