I predict Montreal will be 7th in conference next year just before Detroit

Team: 2020-21 Montreal Canadiens
Initial Creation Date: May 25, 2021
Published: May 25, 2021
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
I see Ottawa and Buffalo being big improvements next year. Montreal still cannot score goals and this won't improve next year. Center depth is not good. Lack of true #1C will continue to hurt us for years until Mtl learns to properly draft and develop.

What would you give for Dubois?

Depends on which Carey Price decides to play, IMO. I feel like they're a fringe-playoff team/wildcard hopeful, similar to this year. Weber's continued decline isn't going to help though.

if we get the same divisions as this year, MTL will have a harder time making the playoffs, if its back to the old Divisions MTL will not even sniff the playoffs. OTT SHOULD be better than MTL, and Buff will still suck next year. Who know what Panthers team we will get next year.

i'm curious to know who you think they could have drafted and developed into a true number 1 center?

I fully agree with you that drafting and developing is the best way to go, especially when it comes to centres. That being said, there could be some interesting centres in the trade market this offseason. The likes of Eichel, Monahan, and Kuznetsov could all be available. Will make for an interesting couple of months for those teams that are looking to get better down the middle.

I think it's a question of development. They drafted 2 different guys at #3 and they both "fizzled" out in the same way, except Kotkaniemi has produced so much less. From day 1 I didn't understand what people were saying about him. He's clearly a great kid with a good attitude, but he's just horrendous out there these days.
They needed to "develop" these guys in the lower leagues first, let them excel in one league before making the big jump.

Depends on if we still have Danault. If we still have him, I wouldn't give much. We need an offensive center who can drive the play. Suzuki is a 2c, Danault is a 1c.
