I honestly think Eichel is going to Vegas

Created by: hairyberry
Team: 2021-22 Buffalo Sabres
Initial Creation Date: May 25, 2021
Published: May 25, 2021
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Three way trade. In the Vegas deal, you could replace Tuch with Karlsson and/or replace Krebs with Glass to adjust the value. Overall in this trade, Buffalo gets: a 1st, a 2nd, Tuch, Kerfoot, Engvall, Krebs.
Trades
1.
2.
BUF
  1. Engvall, Pierre
  2. Kerfoot, Alexander
  3. 2023 2nd round pick (TOR)
Additional Details:
2nd could maybe be a 3rd or 4th, not sure the exact value, but I think the Leafs would be all over Fleury as a 1A/1B with Campbell to try and win a cup next year.
TOR
  1. Fleury, Marc-André ($3,500,000 retained)

Inventive. Nice work. Makes a ton of sense for Toronto and Buffalo. Not sure Vegas would want to move Fleury but for Eichel they might.

Not the value the Sabres should be asking. A blue chip prospect, top 6 winger, late late 1st in a weak draft, a 3rd line center, 4th line player and a 3rd is a whole lot of quantity but little quality. LA, Minnie, NYR etc all could make much better offers

If we’re sending Eichel to Vegas I want Karlsson, Tuch, Krebs, and a 1st (since it will be late anyway). I realize Karlsson has a no trade clause, so Vegas has to figure out how to get him to waive it. I realize that’s a lot to ask, but we’re also actually taking on more payroll than Eichel costs. But in particular if the team wants to give the appearance of trying to be competitive that’s the kind of trade they have to go after.

Yeah that could also work, in that case you'd basically be getting Karlsson instead of Kerfoot, Engvall and a 2nd. The benefit of getting Tuch and/or Karlsson is they're signed long term already, which is good because it'll be very hard to convince players to sign in Buffalo. I think a Vegas package would be some combination of:

- 1st round pick
- Two of: Tuch, Karlsson, Fleury (if it's Fleury you flip him again at half retained)
- One of: Glass, Krebs

Sure, what I’m saying is I want both Tuch and Karlsson, or I would not make the deal. The only way I’d still consider it is a Karlsson absolutely refused to waive his no trade clause, but then they would have to come up with someone else they don’t want to give up. Karlsson is a significantly better player then Kerfoot, he’s worth the money. I wouldn’t bother with Fleury, taking that contract would be doing them a favor that we simply don’t need to do.
