All those picks would be great if Buffalo had a scouting department

The 2nd might be a bit much but the Canes got a first for washing JUST the Marleau contract and that was only one year at $6.75M. I would think that moving out $12M in cap hit would be worth at least that. Especially after Benning got a stay of execution, the pressure is on him to turn that team around and moving on completely would be preferable to having a cap hit both this year and next for any of those contracts.

Similar to the Eichel trade, I wouldn't make it if I was the GM but I certainly would if the maniac that signs my checks mandated that I get a deal done. External factors are going to make for some weird trades this year.

Still a no. Vancouver will not throw away a top 10 pick

You think Benning believes that next year (2022) is going to be a Top 10 pick? Or do you think he thinks (and told Aquilini) that Vancouver will make the playoffs next year? In a Pacific division with LA, San Jose, Anaheim, Seattle, Vegas, Edmonton and Calgary: it isn't that unlikely. If you think your team is going to be in the lottery anyways, you wouldn't make a salary dump trade of any kind but there is no way Benning keeps his job if he tells Aquilini that they aren't making the playoffs next year.

This roster was made assuming Jim Benning was the GM, last I checked he runs the Canucks and is available to be taken advantage of by players and other GMs. You may not take a trade like this but Benning probably would because he definitely believes in his team.

Let me know if he says yes. GMs don't trade top 10 picks or they don't stay GMs for long

Totally valid point if it was the 2021 pick. However, there is a full season of hope and optimism for Mr. Benning and he could very easily make the same mistake that Doug Wilson made on the Karlsson trade or that Pierre Dorion made in the Duchene trade with his 2022 first rounder. Especially if he thinks he is a playoff team because he would also be assuming that pick is no better than 16th overall.
