I honestly don't even know what you're trying to say. Are you saying I made the Oilers overpay? You claim Buffalo is taking on a major cap dump and a pick in the low 20s which makes it sound like Oilers are underpaying, and then you say they give up their best forward prospect "AND a 2nd next year" which makes it sound like you think they're overpaying. Also why would Reinhart be a 2 year rental? He's an RFA.
I apologize for the lack of clarity. You are absolutely right -- my comment is confusing as written.
Addressing the side issue first, Reinhart is an RFA with arbitration rights. Essentially, he can force free agency in one or two years, depending upon what term his current team offers him. (My understanding is that if he rejects his Qualifying Offer and goes to arbitration, his team can ask for a one- or two-year deal, but it might be only one.)
What I was trying to say is that I don't think that Buffalo is interested in taking only futures for Reinhart (Holloway, although he's close, the first and second), but even if they are, they aren't going to take an immediate step backward, too. Koskinen isn't an upgrade on Ullmark, he isn't a number one goalie by any stretch of the imagination, and his $4.5 million cap hit makes him ridiculous as a backup. If you thought that the second is adequate compensation for Koskinen, I think that the Sabres would decline if you took those two elements out of the trade.
I think that Buffalo is looking for something(s) more immediate for Reinhart if they do trade him in the off-season. If not, the package that they accept won't include a cap dump.
