Description
I think there is a lot of hope for this team to come back much stronger with some of these older players on smaller pay checks.
Letang will be 36, if he can still play decently he'd come back at a fraction of his current contract for a smaller role.
The same would be said about Malkin. Coming in as a 3C to play limited offensive minutes.
Opening up cap space for a guy like Barkov. I know FL will want to keep him, but the penguins will have cap space to throw money his way.

The rest of this roster probably won't look this way, but it's just an idea. If they want to keep getting runs for a cup this is what it's going to have to look like. Aging vets on team friendly deals. As I can't see Malkin or Letang coming back on large money deals, especially with term. At 36, it's a deal or walk. I'm ok with that, no one should expect to see them here till they are 40.

    The ducks likely offer Rakell more than that, I don’t see Letang taking that big of a cut. I could see Malkin at 6-7 and Letang at 4-5. It all really depends on how well they play next year, especially malkin.
    I don’t think they really need both Dillon and Nemeth. One would suffice (preferably the cheaper one).
    Pool man is ok, I suppose.
    Barkov would be absolutely amazing and would re-open that window wide.

    I figure Rakell is slumping and won't want to be part of the rebuild. Hard to say at this point. I'm guessing he's moved as a trade piece next year and then hits FA. It depends what people get out of him.
    Some of these can look low but there is 8 mil in cap space left. I just see Letang coming back on a Hainsey like deal. 2x2 or something. I just don't know what he'll have left in the tank. That is the biggest issue. neither him nor Malkin are going to break the bank at this point at 36. I'm about positive on that. The team would be negligent to agree to that.
