Send Jarry Packing

Created by: AlphaHockey65
Team: 2021-22 Pittsburgh Penguins
Initial Creation Date: May 27, 2021
Published: May 27, 2021
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Priority List:

1) Send Jarry packing no matter the return. We have established that he is not capable of handling a starting role. The Penguins expected way too much out of him tbh.

2) Buffalo is letting Ullmark test FA. Perfect opportunity for the Penguins to make an offer. His numbers are solid in Buffalo considering how bad they played. I'd like to see what this guy can do on a winning team.

3) The expansion draft. It would be shocking if the Penguins let Zucker be chosen by Seattle. After giving up a 1st AND a solid D prospect, it would be stupid to let him go after 2 seasons. He has a relatively low cap hit, solid defensively and should bounce back. The obvious choice here is to give Seattle an incentive to take Pettersson who is now 3LD on the depth chart @ 4.8M.

4) Poulin could fight for a roster spot but its highly unlikely. He is minimum 2-3 years away from cracking a spot imo.

5) DO NOT MOVE CROSBY OR MALKIN. We have an incredible C core going into next year. Leave it alone

6) Sullivan is also not at fault because his goaltending was atrocious in the playoffs.

Sending Jarry packing should not be priority 1, he wasn't nearly as bad in the regular season (around average iirc) and he is better than *most* goalies in FA, if we sign a Ranta or Ullmark, sure, trade Jarry, but I don't want to trade Jarry and get stuck with running DeSmith as our starter next yr

I agree. I traded Jarry in this scenario with Ullmark being 100% signed. If there is no replacement for Jarry, you keep him. I don’t want to be running DeSmith as starter next season either lol

Same club, but a year older?

Ceci has shown that his time in Toronto was misplaced, he'll sign somewhere but for more than 1 mil, I'd think closer to 2mil.

But overall I dont see a team better than this year's 1st round flame out.
