I'm sorry - you swapped out Reilly for Domi and lost a bunch of picks and expect it to be an improvement?

oh... and you added Mike Smith. Lol. Jarry might be available too.

First off, we basically traded a 4th and gained a 3rd so idk how we lost picks. Secondly, at the end of next season we will need to resign Campbell, Sandin and Rielly. We will not have the cap to resign all 3 so we might as well trade Rielly while we can get something for him.

You are not getting anything for him. Max Domi stinks. You'd be far better off trading for someone under team control or picks.

He is only 2 seasons off of a 72 point season. Id blame his recent woes on coaching. Bring him to Toronto where his dad played and let Keefe bring the best out of him. The trade also needed to be for a player whos contract ends at the end of next season so that we have the space to extend Campbell and Sandin

im willing to bet one way or another we will resign Rielly the GM is actually pretty decent at his job and why would you trade the D for another F not what toronto would need if we have to lose Reilly

I will also agree that resigning Rielly will not be possible if Sandin continues to progress and Campbell does not fall off a cliff. Because signing all three plus adding on Hyman's contract will make things extremely tight against the cap, especially since it is been reported to only go up by 1 mil in the next two years.

But trading Rielly for picks to only flip for Domi is not the answer. At least wait another year till he is a FA then go after him. He has had two terrible years, no way he is worth the picks right now. Needs to show he is back to his old game first.

If/when the Leafs trade Morgan it should be for an player that is still on his ELC that can help right away, a B prospect, and a pick. Or a straight up 1 for 1 deal. IMO

Look - As a Bruins fan, I would like nothing more for you to hitch your wagon to "what if's".

I think Keefe is a good coach, but to write Julien and Torts off as bad coaches is a bit disingenuous. In fact, I would say his ONE really good year out of six happened under Julien because he taught him/made him accountable on how to play a 200ft game. I would not take his 72pt season as the norm. That was the anomaly. Like Noel Acciari scoring 20. Won't happen again.

If I was Dubas, I am moving Brodie or Muzzin before I even think about not resigning or moving Reilly. It changes a bit depending on his demands.

For the team to actually be better, all the guys will need to vastly exceed expectations. Then you will have 14m to sign - Domi, Sandin, Campbell, Lillegren, Spezza, Mikheyev and Brooks.... Or their replacements.

By coaching I didn't mean they are bad coaches. I meant more that they are coaches who he has not clicked with. Him and Julien had a falling out which is why he was traded. Brodie and Muzzin have been our two best defenseman this season by far. Rielly is a defensive liability at times and he will be looking for a raise next offseason which we will not be able to afford. Hence the trade. You also can't forget that Domi and Marner were linemates on a memorial cup winning London Knights team, putting them on a line together could benefit Domi greatly.
