Heavy overpayment for Romanov IMO, Rielly for Romanov alone is a lopsided trade in favor of Montreal, let alone throwing in your best prospect. Romanov isn't that great in all honesty.

I think he is someone you want to trade a lot for from the Habs side of the spectrum. Could you imagine his growth if he plays for Keefe? Obviously just trading for Rielly would be good for the Leafs, but could look very bad for the Habs in a few years

I think Romanov has great potential and needs to be developed properly. But my goodness trading one of the Leafs best players for Romanov is borderline insane.

Over pay for Romanov, Rielly was a norris candidate a few years ago and still puts up 40-50 pts per season. Romanov is overrated he'll hit and shoot but so does any other defensemen

Rielly is young enough that he'll still be top pairing guy for the next 5 or so years, I don't know if Romanov will ever be a top pairing guy.

He has a lot of potential, and under Dubas and Keefe's system, he can be something

Big overpayment from the leafs. No need for him at this point either. Leafs are fully stocked on Dmen both nhl and prospects.

I feel like under the Leafs system, he can flourish. I see a lot of potential in him and Keefe loves playing his young guys. He's a good puck moving, energy type of defensemen

I don't think most habs fans didn't think much of Sergachev, everyone agreed it was a very high price to pay to get Drouin.

im saying the Habs would be stupid to trade him for a pending UFa...even if he signs with them he'll likely cost 8m. not worth it imo

I'm not sure, I don't think Montreal should try to trade Romanov, he does have upside, but I just think this post overrates his value.

You mean that guy that's been a healthy scratch all series and was highly inconsistent all season? ... don't think it would cost more than a 2nd and a mediocre prospect but Montreal isn't likely looking at moving him right now.

Possibly. But he also seems like a team first guy. Will be interesting to see if he is signed come early 2021-2022 season to an extension.

The only reason I want Rielly gone is to have Sandin play a permanent top 4 role. It could really help his growth, and we will have an additional $5 million to use on other parts of the roster. Maybe adding Amirov was too much but I doubt the Habs will do anything less. Romanov is only 21 and I can see a lot of benefits if he plays under the Leafs system
