There is no chance Buffalo is giving up a perennial 20 goal scorer for your crappy over paid back up, and one decent defensive prospect. Samurukov is another left-handed shot defender which Buffalo already has plenty of anyway. There’s no value here for them.

Perennial? He’s a 25 year old with 2 seasons under his belt. You might want to research Samorukov btw...

He’s only been in North America for three years. He scored 30 goals in the AHL in his first season, over 20 in an injury shortened rookie year, and 13 in 2/3 of a normal season this year. Extrapolate that out he’s a 20 goal scorer guaranteed in a full season. Samorukov is the only good piece in the trade for Buffalo. They still already have several young left hand shooting defensemen, and they could use a right side guy a lot more than another lefty. The value just is not there.

You're right, the Oilers might be getting fleeced here...

Olofsson is basically a PP specialist - he scores more than half his goals with the man advantage. He doesn't add anything at 5v5 even on a weak Sabres team, his xGF% rel is negative despite being stapled to a top-10 center. If you're re-signing Nuge there's absolutely no reason to trade for this guy, as he's not going to see 1st unit PP time in Edmonton and he's replacement-level otherwise.

Now that is good criticism. You aren't wrong.
