Coyle is a bad contract and Morrissey, regardless of what advanced stats people say, is a top pair defenseman. Both of these trades are awful - the Jets aren't a better team as a result

Morrissey is an even worse contract than coyle. Don’t need advanced stats to tell you that . He is not good, and if he’s on your top pair you will not get far

Clearly far enough to take down your team. And Morrissey was a pretty notable reason in why xP

Jets are set on offence, need to add on the blue line. Despite his contract, Morrissey is at the least a top 4 D, and the Jets can't afford to lose him without some major blue line additions. Plus I'd keep Connor

Coyle has an NMC playing for the team he grew up dreaming of playing for. Good luck getting him to waive for ‘Peg. 🤷🏻‍♂️

Lol Morrissey is easily the jest best d-man. I know pionk had a better year but there’s no doubt around the league that Morrissey is the better d-man. Both of these are laughable and don’t do anything good for the jets.

I think it's because it's an Oiler fan making the proposal and they're used to making deals like this in real life and trying to rationalize them afterwards.smile

Haha alright. He consistently ranks bottom 5 in xGA and corsi against, struggles to produce at 5v5, and can’t shut down teams best guys. Don’t be fooled- Hellebuyck shut down the oilers, not morrissey at all

Your hockey knowledge consists of looking at hockeydb and listening to sportsnet. Not a surprise you don’t know anything about both of these players

Yeah he obviously won’t want to go to Winnipeg, and with Krejci possibly retiring I doubt Boston would give up their only capable 2C on the team. Overlooked that in the OP

Is Dunn not a major blue line addition? Not to mention Moore who is already better than Morrissey

Morrissey got caved 5v5 in the series, completely bailed out by hellebuyck. Still played better than he usually does tho!

Your hockey knowledge consists of looking at hockeydb and listening to sportsnet. Not a surprise you don’t know anything about both of these players

If you mean by both of these players as in Morrissey and pionk, well I do know both of them pretty well as can say with confidence that I’ve watched every single game of theirs played in a jets jersey (save for few here and there). If you mean coyle and Moore, then I don’t know where I said anything about those players. I merely said Morrissey is a top pairing guy and the contract you call “bad” isn’t bad to the jets, which is all that matters. As for morrissey’s performance, the guy has been saddled with poolman all season, amid a down year for him personally. I’m not clearing him of blame but it’s hard to play in a shutdown role (against the other teams best) with poolman beside you. Just saying.

Also, sportsnet barely covers the jets for your information. As for me getting my info from them, I don’t. I go off what I see. Morrissey has had a rough year but 1) his performance in these playoffs so far prove he’s worth his contract. 2) his previous track record of continued success trumps his down year season. He will be fine, and we don’t need terrible trade offers for him. Moore is a cap dump and anyone who says otherwise is uninformed. The bruins tried to trade him last year but found no takers. I think that’s proof enough. As for coyle, his contract isn’t terrible but he’s not valuable to the jets.

Before calling out me and literally every other person above me for disagreeing with you, maybe pay attention to what they are saying. No offence, but these trade offers are brutal for the jets and they will never do either.

I make sure to consider what everyone saying, ended up agreeing with the bruins guy. Every stat that we have access too says Morrissey is bad and it’s really that simple. It’s not hard to see on the ice either. One day you’ll understand
