Habs better off keeping Poehling, he led Laval in scoring this season, took a major step forward in overall development. Also has better upside as a 2-way NHL centre. Also a better skater.

i thought it would be a good change of scenery. both are 22 and rasmussen only netted 12 points this season. seems like a fresh start could help him break out of the stagnation.

Yeah but that 12 points is still more than Poehling has in his entire career. Considering Poehling hasn't played a game in over a year and Rasmussen played 40 out of 56 games this season. So Montreal would be getting a top 10 pick who is starting to get comfortable in the NHL and Detroit gets an AHL player that might be a bottom 6 forward some day. You can't tell me that even sounds remotely fair.

well lets be honest if poehling was on detroit this year he would have played. montreal being deeper isn't a knock against poehling.

if you look at redrafts of 2017 you'll see both players go within a few picks of each other. rasmussen being drafted at #9 doesn't make him any more valuable. if anything it was a bad pick.

i think it's a very fair trade. rasumssen has a slight higher offensive potential and a huge size advantage. poehling is the better skater and has a better two-way game.

Ok there you go you think Poehling is better so keep him and Detroit will keep Rasmussen. Poehling just isn't good he had 3 goals in his first game and you can't say Montreal didn't do every thing they could to get that player with a 3 goal first game on to their roster. But the problem is he isn't that player he had a good game thats it. Just like AA only had 1 good season which isn't the norm its the exception. Poehling hasn't played an NHL in 15 months he is a career AHL player. If you think he would've played in Detroit you know very little about Detroit. Look at Hirose he is better than Poehling and only made it in to 6 games.

he'd be a 2nd liner in detroit but that's beside the point. they're equal but if you want to keep your guy that fine. just thought he'd want a change of scenery.
