And C's are too weak (engvall is not an ideal 3c he's fine a sa back up 3c) and we really should want a better option if Campbell falters

I think Johansson (2.06 .913%) would be the perfect backup. He’s young (25) enough to grow with the team with the team and doesn’t have to be a #1. Campbell has proved he is the #1 goalie for the next few years IMO.

As for 3C plenty of options I’d like
Wennberg
Bonino
Cizasks

I still have cap there

You're judging a guy on literally 8 games of his career at age 25

Also in 8 games in the AHL this year he had a save percentage below 0.884 and a high 3s goals against average.

His career NHL SV percentage is 0.896 and a GAA of 4.67

His career AHL save percentage is 0.905 and ECHL 0.909

For comparison

Hutch has a career 0.920 in both the AHL and ECHL and a 0.906 SV percentage in the NHL and 2.77 GAA and none of us want him

I guess for me it’s hard to take anyone’s numbers too seriously having played for Rochester or Buffalo. Once he got to Colorado and played in front of a great defence and system, something the Leafs have, he put up really good numbers. And Dubnyk had the same opportunity to play in front of that defence and put up terrible numbers. So to my point I believe there is a quality backup there that can play every 5 days.

But if you want to go the veteran route I’m cool with signing Elliott, Reimer, or Halak if they come in under 2mil. Doesn’t make sense to pay a backup to Campbell anymore to sit on the bench.

Any goalie can get hot for 8 games. You can ignore Buffalo Rochester and just look at the 7 years of his career before a hot few weeks

Oh and Dubnyk is a bad goalie at this point. He's past his best before date

All good, agree to disagree. IMO he is a quality backup that the Leafs could get and would make a nice addition.
He was an AHL All-Star in the 2019-20 season, which saw him post a .921 save percentage. I think he could be worth a gamble.
