Description
Expansion draft date is June 21st and Van deal would occur without knowledge of pending Offersheet.

Benning moves 25 spots in the draft to get a 3C and Dman he tried to acquire the previous year and is able to move bad long term salary to accommodate. Deal would handcuff him into not being able to match Pettersson Offersheet.

Don’t think that’s a good move for Seattle. If they’re in the lottery mix in 2022 or 2023 they could get Wright, Savoie, Bedard, and/or Michkov, all of whom project to be better than Petey

Perhaps, every year the top guys project to be incredible and most end up as solid pieces. For half a billion I think Seattle will be trying to make an impact like Vegas did.

That's like saying "dont select Matthews when you can draft a Lefreniere , Hughes, Dahlin or Hischier "

Petterson in his 1st three years in less then 10pts shy of a Point Per Game Status on a team that just terrible with bad ownership , worse management and questionable Coaching.Imagine what he could do on a real team with Resources and Ownership to make Aggressive moves.

For the 2nd time in NHL history an Owner has come in paying a Kings Ransom to get the best possible players available in the Expansion.
Unlike years past Brand New Teams making the Playoffs or even a Conference Final isnt unheard of.

As long as Petterson doesnt get any form of NMC
This deal benefits Seattle a Lot short term and does no harm Long Term in any light despite the high cap

Plus what a better way to kick of a Rivalry then taking your closest rivals best player since they got Naslund or Bure.

All you're really missing is a Franchise Goalie which are hard to come by and 9/10 have to be drafted.
Outside that this looks like a team built to play in the West

I might suggest investing in Appleton over Hartman though
Appleton is a Spark Plug/Game Changer who can help turn the tide in games.
Hartman contributes but only in winning efforts when momentum is on their side

More like “don’t select Pettersson when you can draft Draisaitl, Matthews, Crosby, or Ovechkin.” That’s the level the next few top picks are gonna be at, and it’s not worth throwing that away even for a young 1C like Pettersson

      That's just ignoring Context
"why draft Gordie Howe when you can draft Sydney Crosby " lmfao

Anyone who follows the Draft knows that History and Reality says your above comment is Impossible by Definition.
Generational Stars by Definition are not Annual period
