Opinions on Owen Power

Description
Opinions on Owen Powers - He seems to be the consensus first pick has he separated from other players? Do any teams want him enough to give up an enticing package? If you had the first overall pick what would expect to get for it in trade?

He’s not special. He’s a big defensemen with upside, but has a lot to work on. The difference between he and eklund/beniers is basically non existent. Unless someone desperately needs a future top pair defensemen and their young forward core is really good, no one will/should trade to 1

Hard to say. Nobody has traded a 1st overall pick in the salary cap era. But this year with no consensus top pick its probably similar value to a 2nd-4th overall pick in years past. If there was a trade for 1st overall I bet it would be a scenario where a team trades up a few spots rather than putting a full package of NHLers and prospects together

I get that hes the favorite to be 1 but yeah he seems a bit scary to me. Id rather take beniers or eklund I think at 2 and not have to worry about him.

I think he will be a for sure top pairing defenceman but beyond that I can’t say. He has the size you love to see and the kid certainly can skate. I don’t think he will be Chris Pronger but he also won’t be Gord Kluzak

If Devils won lottery and #1 overall and were trade down, I’d want a 1st in top-6, a prospect and probably another mid or later pick.

From Ducks, ~ 3rd overall, Ian Moore and a mid pick.

It will be interesting, I started to think about it just because my friend said what if Buffalo got the #1 OA and could take Power and I said IDK I might want Beniers or Guenther instead, we already have Dahlin - at that point it was like then you should trade the pick.

Beniers should definitely be the player the Sabres target unless their pick for some reason is much lower than expected

Teams are afraid to trade those picks too. I feel like its almost more forgivable to draft a bust than trade the pick and miss out on a top player.

I think he could be a good defensemen but it depends where he gets drafted. He has the size and potential. If he goes to Buffalo, then rip his career.
