WHAAAAAAT??? Lol

You don't see this as just the type of "underwhelming" deal Buffalo settles on for Eichel?

LA declines!

Is that a no because you don't want Eichel, or what would you change to make it work?

A little of both. Don't get me wrong, I would love a superstar like Eichel on the Kings! However, Center is a position the Kings are deep at for years to come. Yes, besides Kopitar they are super young at Center, but they are fine there in a year or two. I say Kings decline because they are essentially giving up 3 first round draft picks in Kempe, Turcotte, and a 2022 first rounder and also be giving up 2 former 2nd round picks which the Kings are huge on in Akil Thomas and Brock Faber. Add in another 2021 2nd round pick and the total haul for Eichel is 3 first round draft picks, 3 2nd round draft picks, and a 3rd round draft pick. I just think that would be a huge over pay for a position that we have a ton of depth at. Also concerned about Eichel's health...

Nice. Thanks for that response; never considered those details. I guess when I considered the deal, I figured Buffalo would probably want Byfield, but would have to settle for quantity over quality. (no disrespect to LA's other fine prospects, of course!) As it's pretty hard to keep a "finger on the pulse" of every team, it was intriguing to know how much the Kings value certain prospects. TY

If I had to rework my deal I would drop Faber and one of either Thomas or Turcotte, but keep Kempe in the deal. I think a decent young roster player needs to come back Buffalo's way if they're trading Eichel (and that frees up number 9! lol). I also think it's safe to assume LA would need to include at least one young center in the deal. (Turcotte / Vilardi / Kupari / Thomas / Anderson-Dolan) Which player(s) could you see the Kings including? (keeping it real considering the player you'd be getting back, as well as his health factor, of course)

Truth be told, it wouldn't surprise me if Eichel ends up somewhere totally unexpected.

You're welcome! it is fun to interact with other fans like you that actually have a great perspective. Thank you! If I were Buffalo, I would definitely ask for Byfield as well. From what I hear, he is just about untouchable as I believe he is the future replacement for Kopitar. Yes, I agree to keep Kempe in the deal and that does free up #9. Haha!

If I were the Kings, here is what I would offer: Kempe, Vilardi or Kupari, 2021 1st round lottery pick, 2021 2nd round pick. I am not saying this gets the job done or is enough for Buffalo to pull the trigger. This is just considering the Kings actual needs and what they might actually be willing to give up. I understand that you have to give to get, but they really don't need another center. However, as a hockey fan, could you imagine the Kings four centers if they were able to pull off a deal like this? Kopitar, Eichel, Byfield, JAD. Rumor has it that the Kings might be interested in Turcotte being on Byfield's wing and Kaliyev on the other wing. Has potential to be a very dangerous line! Again, I don't disagree with your original ask for Eichel, but I just don't see the Kings giving up that much. Is a healthy Eichel worth that much? I can't say no!

Like you said, it wouldn't surprise me either if Eichel ends up somewhere totally unexpected! I think his value will be different with each team in the mix based on team needs.
