Kahun should have never been traded in the first place. Bear replaces Ceci because he’s going to get dumb money from someone as a RHD on the market. Yea that overpaid bum doesn't play the same game as Tanev. Tanev is one of the best defensive forwards in the league and is great for the penalty kill and can also contribute offensively. Kassian isn't that all. He's a detriment offensively and not even close to Tanev defensively, and he's not worth paying 1 million let alone 2.2., he's a waste of a roster spot. I agree that Kahun should have never been traded but there's no room on the roster for him anymore. Bear isn't needed since the Pens have way too many defencemen as it stands right now. Why bring him in when you already have Letang, Marino, Ruhwedel, Friedman, POJ, Riikola in the organization? The 1st would be beyond pick 16 in a weak draft and the Pens would get a player that wouldn't be able to impact the roster for at least 2 years.

So yeah, it's a bad idea to trade the teams best winger who's signed to an extremely team-friendly contract for that package.

B. no he wouldn't. teams take time on those things. This is a lot more to do at the end of the season. They let things die down before making decisions.
You aren't talking about a team doing this mid season. They don't have to rush into anything. The most likely first step is figuring out who they would replace him with. You don't move a guy unless you got the guy you want to replace them. That's business 101.
