nobody agrees with that statement.

Jones plays like 35 minutes a game on a garbage team and has acceptable numbers despite.

If he signs an extension, Russell probably has to go for something better. A contender might pay similar prices at the deadline to have him as a rental, etc.

TOI does excuse the horrific defensive and offensive numbers that last 3yrs. Statistically speaking he has been the worst top pair dman in the league over that last 3yrs. someone is either going to overpay for him in FA or give up an arm and a leg in a trade. Broberg is one the most exciting defence prospects in the league and adding a first on topof that is nuts. for broberg and a first you cant get someone much better.

Im just saying Broberg AND a first is much. cause russel isnt really a cap dump given he will only have a hit of 1.25m next year. asolid cap dump would be a guy like kassian added to the deal instead. Otherwise a 1st and our best prospect is up there maybe a lower draft pick would be better or CBJ gives edmonton a 2nd/3rd back

Now a different/bigger cap dump is a point I can get behind.

I don't really think the point was a cap dump, it was just a temporary body to fill in, in CBJ but if the linchpin here is they have to take Kassian then I think thats fine. CBJ is already a wasteland.

agreed. Cause the most realistic cap dump edmonton can do this offseason in a trade would be kassian as several teams have inquired about him as early as this past trade deadline.

Honestly I wouldn't this deal. The oilers shouldn't do this until it is sure they are stanley cup contenders as a deadline add to push them to the top
