For a player who hasn't been elite in three years?

I love fans from other franchises who say “No not even” then proceed to say “Dach and a first” as if I’m not immediately gonna respond NO NOT EVEN

Murphy gets traded to a contender if we’re a bubble team. Idc he’s worth a 1st rounder. Top pairing RHD defensive dmen don’t grow on trees but seth Jones would be an upgrade for sure

*pulls aside*
Hey he’s a rental unless signs ahead of time for a trade so we’ll probably not get a recent top 3 pick who looks really good and plays the most valuable position in the sport.

We’re probably looking at from the hawks
Strome, boqvist, and a first for an extended Jones.
Unextended it’s strome, a first, a second plus a prospect.

Strome and Mitchell? Boqvist has those moments where I feel like some strength and speed to his legs would really allow him to shine. Also, He’s about to turn 21. So I really hope we keep him.

I should clarify, I would rather murphy and all our assets than Jones, who is also a UFA in a year. I would rather and extended murophy and all our assets over an extended jones.

Also, I haven't watched a ton of Jones aside from when the hawks play CBJ but from what I hear he's quite over rated

Strome and Mitchell plus a 1st and 2nd for the extension ? Idk Strome and Boqvist together is a lot for the hawks to let go.

People on here put Jones on scratch at times for Team USA rosters. So not like it’s oh my gawd empty the pipeline for Seth Jones

Edit **free Dylan Larkin**

Yeah I’d probably insist on boqvist tbh. Especially if as many teams are in on him as anticipated. If you added Murphy(to your counter offer) that might be enough of a local win for cbj to pull the trigger as he’s from Ohio.

But I’m also very low on Jones and will get torn apart by other members of the fan base but I’m just expecting a lower return than anticipated.

To be fair that means he’s like the 7th best d man at worst from his country. Which the USA has produced some pretty nice defenseman over the last decade. And yes free Larkin. My guess when werenski leaves the cbj. (Cuz why would we have anything nice) hes gonna end up home and will entice larkin to stay.

To be fair that definetely means he’s not the Norris caliber price people are gonna want. So hopefully we see Jones in Chicago for a reasonable deal. Jones and a Toews Return helps the hawks win a lot of OT games that prolly puts them back into the playoffs.

But the people who put him as the 7th dman are also not his biggest supporters and are most likely his detractors. Hell play top 4 mins with Zach in the olympics next year. It’s almost a lock at this point. Every time team USA is brought up its

Murphy gets re-signed before the season starts.

Stan won’t make any big splashes this off-season. He’s waiting for next off-season to go after Barkov.

I posted something similar a right after Jones gave his exit interview. It seemed back then that he wanted out. I don't think Jarmo wants a 4th 2021 1st rounder. I think he'll want the 2022 1st and pieces to help his team today. Everyone including Jones knows that guys aren't looking to go to Columbus. It's very hard to get UFAs to sign there. So get some RFAs and prospect and picks.

CBJ needs a center...D Strome.
CBJ needs a big Dman now to replace Jones...Zadorov.
CBJ needs to replenish this prospect system....one of the D prospects/we can't play all 10 of those guys. And then the 2022 1st.

This will all HAVE to come with an extension, but I don't see any team giving up 4 solid pieces for Jones. Yes, this is a quantity vs quality trade, BUT they're pretty much forced to if Jones doesn't want to stay. CBJ needs controlled assets.

Agreed but if he chased Jones then it would prolly involve a player we don’t wanna see go.

I’d rather lose Strome, Zadorov, and a Kalynuk/Beaudin for Jones plus a pick. Strome isn’t showing CHI much with others in the pipeline eager, Zadorov is Zadorov, and losing a youth player and pick is the one thing we don’t want to do. At some point we gotta speed up the rebuild if you want a shot. And having Jones controlled for a few years is not a bad thing to have especially is you can keep Murphy.
