Getting Faceoff Support for Young Centers

Created by: Billy739
Team: 2021-22 Montreal Canadiens
Initial Creation Date: May 31, 2021
Published: May 31, 2021
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Grandlund can support KK from the Wing while contributing at both ends of the ice.
Glendenning has been one of if not the most consistent 4th line center the past 5 years. His Faceoff Win rate was 2nd only to Bergeron and his total wins was 10th in the NHL.

If we're going to invest in young Centers these 2 guys will help us keep competitive.

I value faceoffs as kinda minor ultimately but can definitely appreciate this, every little puck battle counts, as long as the faceoff takes are good overall

Granlund is but Glendening isn't

What about Bozak or Bonino there

I appreciate the generous appraisal of Drouin and gosh it's refreshing to see that around here but idk if anyone is that high on him anymore right now

38 points in his last 71 games with meh Corsi 😕

Soderstrom a little bit overrated though granted

Agreed
i'll take Bozak over Glendenning any day

ARZ is hurting for Centers so i figured if we retain 500k and they retain 2m that Drouin at 3m cap would be worth COL bringing on Drouin.
They could end up with multiple Center Prospects and multiple picks.

Really we could Retain on Drouin and probably get something of value but then we're stuck with Cap.
This way MTL gets something and ARZ gets something
More importantly Drouin gets something going to a small hockey market with his Memorial Cup team mate and a real chance at success.

Everyone wins and a 3m cap his power play contributions alone make him an interesting pick up.
Plus he has the speed to keep up with Rantenen and Mckinnon on special teams

As a Coyotes fan I can say it's not a bad package but the Coyotes aren't doing that. The Coyotes are looking to get younger and cheaper. Even with retention Drouin at $5M is an albatross contract, not withstanding the fact that he's not even playing (no idea what the personal reasons are), also he's 26 so aging out of his prime anyways. Evan is an okay piece and the pick is good but the Coyotes just aren't the team for this package.
