It'd be a pretty bold strategy given that they wouldn't be able to afford to re-sign Barkov after year 1, and would likely struggle to sign Hubby after year 2...

Well after 1-2 Years, Barkov and Huberdeau get the Matthews and Marner deals, also Florida will not be able to afford that

Panthers easily say no. We don't need two players who don't show up when games get tough. I would rather keep my playoff performers

Don't see FLA in the second round, but sure.

Don't be mad at me that your home town boys took every penny away from your GM. I like players who take discounts and the Panthers have a brighter future than the Leafs

Don’t get too excited... Montreal may beat you, and also look at the match ups. Toronto vs Montreal, and Florida vs Tampa. Tampa is way better than Montreal, and with the way leaf fans hype up Toronto, you should be able to beat them.

Nope because of term. Barkov and Huberdeau have a combined 3 years remaining until they turn UFAs while Matthews and Marner have a combined 7. Thats far too much control to give up.

I, by no means, was insinuating that the Leafs were going to get through tonight. Was merely pointing out that he wanted to keep his playoff performers when they have accomplished just as much as the Leafs have in the post-season. Seemed odd.

I can tell you this with absolute certainty, no one in Toronto is excited right now. Most people are going into this with the expectation they are going to let us down again. Let's see what happens.

Skill level aside, how would this even be possible from FLA's standpoint? We are adding 10 million to our payroll and I don't think we have the space for that

Didn't the Leafs trade all their picks to be eliminated in the 1st round again? Habs have 11 picks, Leafs have 3 picks left, and the Leafs are on the verge of having the biggest choke in NHL history

That's a bit of a stretch to say in NHL history. You've made your point, you don't like the Leafs. We get it.

If the Leafs lose in game 7, they will be the 28th team (from the MLB, NHL, NFL) in all of North America to choke a 3-1 series lead. I just hate the Leafs fanbase

tampa is 10x better than mtl, and imo if the matchup was florida toronto, panthers would win if they got stable goaltending. none of the leafs stars, save nylander, have shown up in this current series

Cheer for your team and I'll cheer for mine. No need for hate in this world my friend. Being a Leafs fan I totally understand the frustration, I feel it too seeing how toxic a portion of the fanbase can be. At the end of the day we're all cheering for a team playing the same sport, hockey which I assume we both love. If reading other teams fans comments on an internet forum cause you to hate I think you need to take a step back from the online world.

I 100% agree with that other guy, and Barkov, and Huberdeau are way better in the playoffs. They both have good futures, but I like Florida’s more.

Yes, they traded a bunch of picks this year, and they probably will get eliminated pretty soon. They are so weak, and soft in the playoffs it’s insane!
