Why would anyone take Koskinen, let alone trade something of even remote value for him? Dude is trash, and Oilers problem.

Probably have to retain on Koski and won't get anything at all for him, but I like the general ideas here. Dreidger would also be a nice net option to tandem with Smith. Saad or Coleman I think will be the best bang for their buck on LW, so either or for me. Nuge would be LW2 here still, need that line back dependably, might go for a more defensively competent 3C vet like Bozak over Janmark - might be even cheaper on a 1 year deal and brings a vet, cup winning presence the Oil have missed (besides good ol Chiasson lol). Khaira had a good year, I'm sure he'll be back - a bottom 6 center trio of Bozak, Glendening and Khaira would be a hell of an improvement.

Yeah, the Oilers need goalies. Therefore, if Koskinen was worth a 3rd round pick the Oilers would just be keeping him.

Why would Buffalo a team with zero goaltending take a decent tandem goalie ... it just seems crazy to me that people assume he has no value.
David Rittich was dealt for a 3rd round pick at the deadline to be a 3rd string
Devan Dubnyk for a 5th (twice this season)
    Matt Murray for a 2nd

Your logic is flawed, Holland has made it clear he intends to bring Smith back and they won't be bringing back this tandem. Which means they will look to move out Koskinen

Well I agree it’s unlikely return with the same tandem Holland also said to bob stauffer on oilers now right after his year end press availability why not bring both back. So I think there is a chance Holland already has kosk pencilled in as a plan b or c hasn’t completely ruled it out yet. I’m on the fence about it won’t be pissed if doesn’t make a move but if he does do anything with tandem almost certain kosk will be bought out.

And how did Matt Murray turn out? Wasn’t he like 62/65 qualified goalies. He’s bad because he’s bad. Edmonton went 13/13 with him and 21/6 with mike smith. He posted sub 900 save % and over a 3 gpg. Over the course of his career he’s been ok as a mid backup. You don’t pay 4.5 for a mid backup.

You are missing the point, none of the listed goalies are stellar or even close to yet teams traded for them. IF EDM is determined to trade Koskinen they will be able to find a suitor which may require retaining salary but a deal can be made.

I listened to that too and as far as Bob goes he is in the know when it comes to EDM happenings. I'd like to see a change personally and with Hollands ties to Mrazek hes my betting favourite.

    1. Retaining on Koskinen is fine, I don't understand the argument that hes untradeable when we see worse get dealt.
    2. I like Dreiger too but with Hollands connection to Mrazek he is my betting favourite.
    3. Coleman is going to be a hot commodity I bet, teams are seeing value in him and I bet he has a nice pay day but I too would like him.
    4. I prefer RNH at C, you saw glimpes of it in game 4 against WPG. I do understand reuniting the DNY lineas well tho
    5. I'm not a Bozak fan, hes too old.
    6. Janmark can skate and play up and down a lineup. The guys been effective with Vegas and was strong in the playoffs with Dallas last year.
    7. I could see Khaira back as well unless Edmonton plays hardball with qualifying him at $1,125,000 or whatever his offer comes in at.

I get the connection and it wouldn’t surprise me just not big into his play style because it’s not overly structured.

I think you are missing the point. Goalies of his caliber are always available, for less cap and no assets lost to trading. A 45/55 ranked goalie (which is being generous) costing 4.5M isn’t a value asset. If anything, edm is retaining half and getting a much later selection back, or is ponying up to get him off the books, or most likely buying him out or keeping him for a clear backup role. He doesn’t have value. At all.
