This is the biggest game of Matthews Marner and Nylanders Careers

Created by: Hedman77
Team: 2020-21 Toronto Maple Leafs
Initial Creation Date: May 31, 2021
Published: May 31, 2021
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
This is the night where they either take the next step or fail to deliver a series win once again.

I realize they don't have Tavares or Muzzin.
I realize they're going up against playoff Carey Price.
I don't care.

This is a team with one of the best forward groups in the world, even without John Tavares.
Auston Matthews led the league in goals this season, and they have two elite wingers in Marner and Nylander. Plus a ton of forward depth.

This is a fanbase that is truly starved of success. I know they don't like hearing it, but they haven't won a playoff series since 2004.
2004. I was 2 years old.

I think back to when my Lightning got swept and how the media (specifically Tim & Sid) RIGHTFULLY came after Stamkos/Kucherov/Hedman/Vasilevskiy/etc. for not showing up.
If you thought Tampa Bay took a lot after 2019, imagine what the Toronto media will do to the Leafs in 2021.
A 3-1 series lead, gone.

I'm cheering for the Leafs tonight. I want to see them take that next step as a team. It's time.

... Careers lol. They've been a dynasty for what... three years already??? Sure sounded like it!
Yet, here they are, in the biggest game game of their careers, on the verge of eclipsing the 1st round😂 in what...16yrs???🤤
Ya, it's a must win.
Ps MIA: TML Sage /Tyka??? Lol

How is this not the biggest game of their careers so far? I’m confused as to where your logic lies behind that comment. Maybe I’m just misunderstanding your comment, but this is 100% the biggest game of their careers. This is a truly defining moment for the leafs, if they get past MTL, it’s a huge win, one that could change the momentum of the franchise. If they lose, that would cripple any confidence they had left in this team. Not sure how the team will get any better over the next 2 years with a flat cap if they don’t make any major changes through trades.

Exactly that. They've been boasting about having the best of everything for years now. You'd think they were halfway through a dynasty! For sure a must win. Personally i think they win tonight. Yet, either way, they are not going anywhere this year. It's quite obvious one of the four headed monsters, and their cap, have to go, to fill holes.

Yeah, I get what you mean.. idk I just feel sympathetic for them. After how the Lightning failed in 2015.. 2016.. 2017.. 2018.. 2019..
They've suffered enough tears of joy

As a Blues fan who suffered far longer than Tampa fans, I understand feeling sorry for Toronto fans and I do too. That stated, I just don't like Auston Matthews. With my wife being a Bruins fan, I'm torn because I have to hate both teams. But at least I like players on MTL so Go Habs

Totally agree. Even if they beat MTL and then wpg they’re getting torched by Colorado or Tampa LOL. One of the big guys has to go to fill other holes. My guess is that it might be nylander. Don’t think they have the balls to move marner.

Tbh they should’ve just not signed JT. IMO they’re a better team with his $ placed elsewhere.

oh boy...marner look terrified the whole series. how much longer does this go on for? they traded for an old foligno over hall lol AND gave up a first for him. dubas took the "grit" twitter comments too seriously. i envision keefe and his staff gone. especially malhotra after the vaunted powerplay did nothing. interesting offszn ahead
