the "win" in a marner trade is the cap space, JT, AM, and marner are all paid 2M too much at the very least, that 6M, imagine the quality top 6 or top 4Dman you can get for that 6M that could have helped the leafs....

Tbh trading Marner and JT (if you could convince him to waive NTC) would be the best thing for this team. 20M+ in cap saving on top of whichever asset you got in return would change the culture of this team. This team needs a Tom Wilson type player. Someone to drag them into battle.

What's the fascination with Jones and Jenner both are UFAs in one reason, and hardly winners. Yeah folks can question the Tavares signing....but geez the Leafs management really screwed themselves by overpaying the top 3 RFAs...by 4.5m at the time their signings.

Matthews needs to be saved? Maybe if he scored 6 goals in 7 games and still lost but he didn't. Save Campbell. Save Nylander even. Matthews is the guy who needed to get this team over the hump in one of those OT games and he didn't. I know he was covered more than anyone, but so is every other superstar in history.

I agree with the philosophy of this team though. Skill, possesion, but with players that will bite back. They just didn't execute the style of play. The Avs are executing that style of play over the Knights that play that heavy style of game. It's the best style for modern NHL teams and for the direction of the game.

The skill of this team is not in question, its creating space to be able to use that skill. Leafs cannot create that space cause the teams they play don't respect them, and they don't believe the Leafs will bite back. This is nobody on the Leafs roster that instill any sort of fear into the other team. Even players like Muzzin and Foligno don't play their brand of hockey on this team. This team needs to learn how to play mean without losing their skill. (They need to learn how to play bruin type of hockey or avs)

AM just not a good fit for the Rangers with his lack of team control. We'll take a shot at Eichel for less than half that price.
