This years playoffs was a bad optic for a guy like Marner. His season was 20 gold and 47 assist on a very stacked Leafs team. That is not what a 11 million dollar player does. Sorry teams in a tight cap and low decenue will not pay that kind of price to take Marner.

He is avery talented player, but he needs a center to drive the line not the other way around and the teams that have that don not have the cap to absorb Marner. Other than the maybe the Rangers few teams can give up that kind of price absorb the cap and maybe have the center cor a player like Marner.

Two guys who don't want to play in Columbus (both of whom had a worse season than Marner did in the playoffs) and a first for a potential top-15 player in the league, I think both sides seriously consider it.

Why would toronto want what you just pitched? Also one is a rental.

this years playoff was a bad optic for leaf fans not for GM's, teams, other players, equipment men, coaches, mascots, owners or the guys that walk around with twizzlers at games.

nobody in the league looks at marner and thinks, idk, he only had 4 points as a set up man in a 7 game series after scoring 350 points in 350 career games... he must be a bust.

1st I never called him a bust, do not put words in my mouth. But the Leafs as set up do not work. That can not be denied. They have failed to make it out of the 1st round in 5 straight years.

What I am saying is for 11 million dollars that player must be a line carrier. When Tavares went out it hurt Marner and he was not the same player. Alot of players on the Leafs did not show up, Matthew's, Rielly and Marner. But for that kind of vap hit you would beleive he would be better. What I beleive it showed is he needs a center like a Tavares to be productive. Columbus has no true #1 center and this will only hurt Marner and the Blue Jackets. They will need to trade Jones as I beleive he will walk after next season, but they will want to get a center who can carry the mail, not another winger like Laine who is lost without that guy who like a Tavares, Bergie, Crosby or another top line center.

I beleive Marner is a very special player, but he will only be that in the right situation, minus that he is a good player with a very large cap hit.

He sure seemed like he needed Tavares when he helped Matthews score 41 in the regular season. You know, not on Tavares' line.

Keefe got beat by Danault and his response was to double down and triple down on losing to Danault.

Playing with Matthews is the right situation. Believing that you need playoff grit in a bunch of old slow guys is not. If you have no depth scoring and you decide to hammer your top line into the best checking line, this is what you get.

This team was sunk when they agreed with fans and got Foligno over Hall. I knew it was terrible then and I knew it would get overlooked now.
