Description
The Maple Leafs should find a way to take advantage of the strong foundations they’ve built for themselves over the kast 6 years. They need to sign ufas and re-sign players just to trade them for assets. They also need to completely reshape their lines to a way that will result in playoff success. Trading Mitch Marner goes a long way as it will also help the Leafs with cap related issues and the problem of the rather inconsistent blue line and forwards come playoffs.
Mitch Marner is a fantastic hockey player without a doubt, he will be a Selke candidate this year and it won’t be easy to say goodbye, but the Leafs simply cannot afford to spend $10,000,000 on Mitch Marner, they can get major solid assets for him as well.
Morgan Reilly is a UFA come next year and the Leafs would likely be forced to choose between Rasmus Sandin and Morgan Reilly. I would choose Sandin because Reilly is very high value on the block. It will allow Toronto to go on and sign a UFA like Landeskog after trading Mitch Marner. Patrice Bergeron is a ufa come next year and if the Boston Bruins aren’t contending next year which is very likely because of how stacked the Atlantic division will be next year. They will definitely try to trade him for assets. Bergeron would be Toronto’s best forward acquisition since John Tavares. It is something Dubas would consider a lot during the deadline if the Leafs are looking poised for a cup run.

The Leafs have cap space and a stacked team to build off, and if they play their cards right in the off-season. We could perhaps see the Toronto Maple Leafs strongest hockey team on paper in franchise history.

Boston says F Off.

10 cents on the dollar for what he’s worth. That doesn’t get you his broken skate laces. Lol.

why would the jackets decimate their d core for a forward whos clearly not an x-factor. If they trade them both theyd be way way better off doing it separately for futures to rebuild

Marner and that contract don't get you Jones and Werenski

Not to mention you signed Hamonic (to an awful contract btw), just to immediately trade him

laugh laugh Give up Marner for 2 players that sure aren't likely to resign with Toronto and Coleman and Danault laugh at those lowball offers.
