I would rather Schmidt on his contract than Savard and Robinson as replacements. Robinson was elevated by Tortz and I doubt many other coaches would see him as much more than a 4th liner. The trade alone is a CBJ fleece.

I also think moving Holl is a rash decision for Toronto and that we aren't paying them enough.

Signing Bozak would be a nice add though

CBJ is all over that deal. Seems heavily lopsided to me.

A first is too much, but maybe a 3rd or a 2nd depending on what the return for Jones is.

You don't have a 2021 2nd and I doubt they'd want to move another one, and tampas pick will be 27, 29-32 anyway

Savard has gotten overrated a fair bit this year, and management overrates him too. He's one of the slowest guys on the ice - and although I like his fit here, I think Schmidt will have more long term impact. They are different defensemen so it's hard to compare, but I'm saying I would rather keep what we have than go this route because I think Robinson is just another one of what we already have plenty of.

I love them too, but we already have 5 of them (Motte, Roussel, Hawryluk, Highmore, Gadjovich). Teams should only have one or two. This is part of why our bottom six is perhaps the worst in the league.

Getting a NHL level 3rd line has got to be #1 priority.

Bozak and Podkolzin are 2 right there, I've never been comfortbale with Pearson in the top 6 but hes been paid so you can't go back anymore

Pearson is a transitional piece. When he's on his game, he's definitely a 2nd line player. His issue is consistency. He was one of the better canuck forwards after returning from the pause but was also a bit invisible before it.

He allows Hoglander and Podkolzin to find their roles before rushing them to top 6 minutes. After they do, he makes for one of the best third liners we have had in a while. I'm comfortable with the contract and think its better than most people say.

Podkolzin is the direct Toffoli hole replacement. I think we still need two third line pieces: Bozak as one, and perhaps one other. My main target the last while has been Jason Dickinson. I would also be happy with Tierney or Barbashev. Then the fourth line can focus on being a fourth line as opposed to a 3rd line B line.

Barbashev could be good for Pod, maybe Sanford for some physicality?
