The whole point of this Offseason is to get grittier. Not softer.
That's a lot of assets to ship out, and a lot of Cap to absorb, for 2 players who have ZERO Playoff success in their Careers. Marner himself hasn't scored a Goal in the last 2 Playoff Series (12 games).
It's fun to make these types of posts in the moment, since they're reactionary to Toronto choking away the Series. But giving away depth, while taking on Cap, is not a recipe for success.
Toronto has 4 Forwards taking up half their Cap space. Literally. This isn't the NBA. You need money to spread around the team, not just on a small handful of players.
That's the reason Toronto keeps losing now. Pulling off a trade like this to essentially become more like them, doesn't seem like the best idea.
