Description
So I did the quick protect feature while drafting this team and found a few weird people protected as well as not protected. I tried to be fair and followed the rule of the Vegas draft. I will explain my reasoning behind each player I draft and some other aspects like trading and signing.

Trades
1.
SEA
  1. Guhle, Brendan
Additional Details:
I thing Guhle will be a solid defenceman for the Kraken and will eventually become a top 4 d-men (not in the league but on the Kraken)
ANA
2.
SEA
  1. Larsson, Johan
Additional Details:
Not much reasoning, just like him
ARI
3.
SEA
  1. Ritchie, Nick [RFA Rights]
  2. 2021 3rd round pick (BOS)
Additional Details:
With the quick protect, Boston had one too many forwards selected and for me, Ritchie is the odd one out. The reason the third is involved is so they don't take a guy like Frederic, who I think could be a top-6 forward for them
BOS
4.
SEA
  1. Okposo, Kyle
  2. 2021 2nd round pick (BUF)
  3. 2022 2nd round pick (BUF)
Additional Details:
Do I need to say why. I saw a lot of people adding a first, but I think that is too much and 2 seconds if enough
BUF
5.
SEA
  1. Parsons, Tyler [RFA Rights]
Additional Details:
I needed to pick a goalie and Parsons could be good (btw I'm from London so a little bias towards Parsons)
CGY
6.
SEA
  1. Gardiner, Jake
  2. 2021 4th round pick (CAR)
Additional Details:
Gardiner is a decent defenceman, coming from a leafs fan, and the fourth is so they don't take Skjei
CAR
7.
SEA
  1. Connolly, Brett
Additional Details:
I know they just traded for him but I think freeing the cap space would be better than having him on a rebuilder
CHI
8.
SEA
  1. Graves, Ryan
Additional Details:
Solid defenceman and could help this team in the long run as he has a lot of potential
COL
9.
SEA
  1. Kukan, Dean
Additional Details:
Needed a RD to fill team needs and he seems promising
CBJ
10.
SEA
  1. Dickinson, Jason [RFA Rights]
Additional Details:
I personally think they will protect him but why not
DAL
11.
SEA
  1. Denisenko, Grigori
  2. Strålman, Anton
  3. 2022 3rd round pick (FLA)
Additional Details:
They take on Stralman and his cap. They receive Denisenko as a bonus for not taking Bennet or Dreidger. They also receive a third
FLA
12.
SEA
  1. Wagner, Austin
Additional Details:
Young, promising and cheap
LAK
13.
SEA
  1. Rask, Victor
Additional Details:
Solid player and he could find his click like Karlsson in Vegas
MIN
14.
SEA
  1. Byron, Paul
  2. Drouin, Jonathan
Additional Details:
This is a lot of cap but the Kraken can do it. They will give the Canadiens a second as a thank you and its Buffalo's
MTL
  1. 2021 2nd round pick (BUF)
15.
SEA
  1. Järnkrok, Calle
Additional Details:
Solid player and he can play anywhere from the first line to the fourth from the PP to the PK
NSH
16.
SEA
  1. Bellows, Kieffer [RFA Rights]
Additional Details:
I like him and he did wonders in NHL 21 and became a first liner. Maybe he can do it here?
NYI
17.
SEA
  1. Blackwell, Colin
Additional Details:
Centreman, solid and I didn't want to take DeAngelo
NYR
18.
SEA
  1. Gustavsson, Filip [RFA Rights]
Additional Details:
Young goalie, could be the future #1
OTT
19.
SEA
  1. Lafferty, Sam
Additional Details:
Could be good, could not be, but you take risks
PIT
20.
SEA
  1. True, Alex [RFA Rights]
Additional Details:
Young, promis... you've been here before
SJS
21.
SEA
  1. Sundqvist, Oskar
Additional Details:
Solid guy, cup experience
STL
22.
SEA
  1. Johnson, Tyler
  2. 2023 1st round pick (TBL)
Additional Details:
I'm taking Johnson for the cap and Tampa would give a first for it
TBL
23.
SEA
  1. Holl, Justin
Additional Details:
I was debating this one hard. I'm a leafs fan so I would like no one taken. Holl or Kerfoot was the choice. Ultimately I took Holl due to the offence the Kraken have already and a surprise soon
TOR
24.
SEA
  1. Pearson, Tanner
Additional Details:
Could return to his former play, or not, take risks
VAN
25.
SEA
  1. Kuznetsov, Evgeny
  2. Vanecek, Vitek
Additional Details:
Vanecek chosen during the expansion draft. Kuznetsov goes to Seattle for some reason. Washington gets Byron and Boston's third
WSH
  1. Byron, Paul
  2. 2021 3rd round pick (BOS)
26.
SEA
  1. Stanley, Logan [RFA Rights]
Additional Details:
DeMelo is more valued by the Jets
WPG
27.
SEA
  1. Bastian, Nathan [RFA Rights]
Additional Details:
Thanks to Kravtsov_Stan for telling me Bastian could be better than Johnsson. Just leafs bias I guess
NJD
28.
SEA
  1. Namestnikov, Vladislav
Additional Details:
I wasn't aware of the MASSIVE cap space Detroit has
DET
29.
SEA
  1. Russell, Kris
Additional Details:
Minor tweak to fit the needs of the team
EDM
30.
SEA
  1. Voracek, Jakub
  2. 2021 2nd round pick (PHI)
  3. 2022 3rd round pick (PHI)
Additional Details:
Thanks to GirouxFanclub for informing me on the Flyers cap situation. Voracek is now the selection instead of Ghost. I'll put a second cause I don't know the prospect system in Philly and I would rather pick my own prospects

Regarding Buffalo:
Okposo is likely headed for retirement with the head injury. We were told "the last one needs to be the last one" prior to this one. We also haven't heard many updates really. That said, they need to clear off other dead weight because Okposo can justifiably be waived and buried. Letting Colin Miller go in expansion is ideal.

I think toronto will ask them to take kerfoot. We are very deep up the middle and need the cap space. I am sure it won't take much to get that outcome

I think Voracek is better than JVR and he makes more cash so I could see that happening. I'll make the change. Thanks for the feedback

Okay so how does Detroit need to free up some space? When we've $50,000,000 in cap space this summer. it's not like we're up against the cap like Tampa and Vegas and some other teams. Detroit has more then enough cap space to sign our RFA's and a few of our UFAs and other's teams UFAs and then some. Detroit sure as hell isn't giving up their #38th overall pick to move Nielsen's contract we can buy him out or even dump him in Grand Rapids this coming season. Any ways we're fine not surrendering a very good pick when we don't need the cap space.

I should have checked the cap for them, that's my bad. Do you have any recommendations on who the Kraken should take

Basically it's one of Namestnikov, Panik, Nielsen, or Svechnikov on forward. Defenseman DeKeyser or one of Lindstrom/Stecher or Goalie Fulcher that's basically that but Yzerman isn't giving up anything to move DeKeyser or Nielsen when he doesn't need to.

One more fix I would make give up a prospect or a 2nd and a 3rd round pick for Seattle to take Voracek considering his cap hit is high and he still has 3 years left

Welcome to CF📊

Unique & interesting

Idk exactly how it'd work but I assume despite the team change Ritchie would still have to be qualified relative to his previous cap hit of 1.498 so then 2M$ and up likely close to 3

Probably gets 3 in arbitration

Thanks for such positive energy here 👍

Edit:

Just for syntax

Out of curiosity who was protected for Forwards from Boston? Because your ecplanation was both Ritchie and Frederic were left unprotected. It will be between them for the 7th FW protected.

Bergy
Pasta
Marchy
Coyle
Debrusk
Smith
And either Ritchie/Frederic

And it will likely be a choice between Ritchie/Frederic or Lauzon.
