If I were the Blues I would want picks and prospects only back unless I could get a good goalie in return but seeing as their will be some available on the free agent market I'd prefer the picks and prospects only. With that said, if the Blues want to make a push for it this year (Because management is crazy like that sometimes) and get something for the future, this isn't a terrible idea for them. Let's not forget here, they will lose Shattenkirk for nothing if they don't trade him. If it was down to keeping him for the playoffs or making this trade, I'd do this trade.

Blues have a pretty bleak prospect pipeline at the moment, not a lot of higher end talent ready to make the jump...outside of Barbashev I think there isnt much there. They should be selling off Shatty for a full retnal price of 1st, prospect,. Or look at a 1 for 1 similar player deal. having bozak at 4.2 next year doesnt help their flexibility moving fwd

Bozak would be the Blues 2nd best Center. If the Blues can move Lehtera and either let Berglund walk or put him back on wing the Center situation would be better. By all accounts Sobotka will be returning next year. So for at least 1 year the Centers would be Stastny Bozak Sobotka - that's going to scare opposing teams but it's definitely better than Lehtera Stastny Berglund.

At least Kapanen adds a little to the prospect pool and, fills a need at RW.

I think there is a better options of upgrading the 2C position than moving Shatty for Bozak and a kicker.

Solid deal, Blues real need is a #1 center not a goalie. I understand our goalies are not playing well but Allen is in the plans of the Blues future. Armstrong has already stated that multiple times. There just aren't any number 1 centers available so a solid 2C or 1b center in Bozak is better than nothing for Shattenkirk.

Terrible deal for Leafs. Kapanen is the Leafs best forward prospect. Bozak is needed at centre this year and probably next. Shattenkirk would be a half year rental.

This would be Shattenkirk resigning in Toronto.

It's still a terrible deal for Leafs. If you sign a free agent, you overpay anyway. You don't give up assets. Forget the silly article. What's in for the Leafs? And in Shattenkirk's case he's waited this long to be a UFA, there is no magic on being traded. Oh, Leafs management isn't overpaying for a an average Dman. but a fine PP specialist.

Its the hockey news quoting Dreger, that should put some redflags up. If its not from LeBrun, Friedman, or the Bobfather...It starts to lose credibility in my mind. Dreger has been really out to lunch the past 2 years with his rumours
