Description
Started and stopped a dozen times. This feels like a pipe-dream.

I don’t know if Monahan is even remotely on the market. If he is, and if Calgary likes Dumba, I think this type of deal would be cool.

Here’s another thing I don’t know: would a 1st entice Seattle to take a player that I don’t like? Also, would the fact that I don’t like Rask mean enough to Bill Guerin to make this move? I kind of hope so.

I like Cole and I hear Menell has been pretty good. I threw 2 million at Menell, not sure if it’d be him or Cole or if that number sounds right for either one of them.

Also, I didn’t even touch the Parise situation. What a colossus of a contract at this point lol. Should he stay or should he go? If he goes there will be trouble and if he stays it will be double. So come on and let me know.

Additional Details:
Expansion deal. Would Seattle take this 1st if it meant also taking a non-desirable player/contract like Rask? Does the rest of the league harbor as much dislike for Rask as Wild fans do? Would Billy G be willing to surrender this pick in order to shed the contract and keep good players around? Am I dreaming?

  3. 2021 2nd round pick (MIN)
Additional Details:
Would they actually move Monahan? If so, would Dumba garner any interest? Greenway in his place maybe? Gotta think a high pick and decent prospect would help sweeten the deal provided they have any real interest in Dumba.

IMO he may be stuck on 3rd pairing behind Andersson and Tanev. I don't know much about Dumba tho so I could be wrong

Trading Dumba is a great idea because you literally can't protect him due to the Brodin, Suter and Spurgeron no-move clauses so they only way to keep him is to either give Seattle compensation (Which is tough because you already need to compensate for them not taking whichever one of Kahkonen or Talbot they don't protect.) or they could trade him and get a center back because you're probably going to lose him anyway. Trading for Kusnetsov, Monahan or if you wan't to be really bold you can try to trade for Eichel but they're all good trades considering you're losing Dumba anyway.

Flames top 4 RD is pretty set with Andersson/Tanev. Preference would be for Greenway

Last offseason Calgary offered Monahan for dumba straight up and gmbg passed. Doesn’t seem to be a Monahan fan.

You literally can protect Dumba by going the 8 skater, 1 goalie route.

This is the 2nd recent trade I've seen where for some reason people think Minnesota would need to add in a Dumba/Monahan swap. It must be the huge 28 points Monahan put up and Calgary's deep playoff run thanks to Monahan's stellar play that makes people think that.

But in return you can only protect one of Ek, Foligno, or Greenway. Dumba is the odd man out on this team and he needs to go for cap flexibility and the spot on 2RD for Addison.

*shrug*

He said they literally couldn't protect him, I told him a way they literally could.

There's a lot of ways to navigate the expansion draft, a lot depends on what conversations have taken place between Guerin and Francis. I just hope Guerin doesn't try to overthink it like Fletcher did with Vegas.
