Lol I gotcha - I honestly think the isles would be an awful fit for Laine but this is what it would cost. Laine is pretty much Hoffman 2.0 and I don’t think you can go far in the playoffs with a guy like him on your top line

What Player/Players would they need to Beat Tampa or Colorado. I think an upgrade over Leddy for the 2 pair LHD and a guy like Elhers to play with Barzal on the top line. Isles are close to be champions but need two more guys to put them over the top

I would trade bailey + varlamov for a guy like kevin Labanc . Trade a 4th for kulak

I think there’s a disconnect in how isles fans value some of the players on the team. Not sure if you have a subscription to the athletic, but there was an article written yesterday about the remaining 8 teams. It used analytics and both eberle+ Beauvillier are players that have top line impacts - but I’d say 75% of the fanbase considers both of them as ok 2nd liners. Wahlstrom is already considered a top 6 caliber forward as well.

Laine's value couldn't be lower right now. If I'm the Islanders I don't make that deal. Furthermore, productive or not, Laine is just NOT the kind of player that would fit with the NYI system, IMO. I mean look how quickly he fell out of favor with Torts and what he commands from players. Laine isn't big on work or defensive responsibilities!!!
