Yeah, that Jones proposal is getting outbid. And putting him on the bottom pairing is kind of disgraceful.

He will get lots of pp time offence is his strength and maybe Boston adds a bit more but I don’t know how much teams are going to give him considering he has had 2 not great seasons and is UFA soon

Oh goody! A LW of which we have 6 in exchange for one of our 2 RWs! A guy who's a year older and scored at a rate of one point every 3 games in exchange for a guy who scored at a rate of one point every 2.4 games on a much, much weaker team offensively! A guy who costs 2.5 times as much as our guy! And we give up a second-round draft pick, too! What a deal!!

Yeah, No.

But you can substitute Brandon Carlo for Jake DeBrusk if you want to talk. After all, if you're going to have to pay him more than Charlie McAvoy . . .

Let some other foolish team overpay the Jackets for Jones. And then overpay Jones himself.

I honestly think 6-6.5 is very realistic. Flat cap, a down season, and an apparent desire to be in boston.

Are you aware of who Troy terry and Brandon carlo are?

I can understand not wanting debrusk. He had a down year for sure, but that’s kind of absurd.

No, I haven't any idea who Brandon Carlo is. That's why I mentioned him.

Did you even notice that the OP wants to pay him more than Charlie McAvoy?

That is very likely what will happen. That’s not abnormal. You have to understand that they’re coming off totally different contracts. McAvoy was coming off a 10.2 RFA with no rights. Wasn’t eligible for an offer sheet. Wasn’t arb eligible. His contract didn’t buyout any UFA years. Carlo is arb eligible. This contract proposal buys out four years of UFA. Player A that is bridged normally gets less than player B who is signing a long term extension buying out UFA years, even if player A is better. That’s just how this league works.

As a bruins fan. It would be a waste to have Jones as third pairing. He is a top pairing D. If he can’t play left with Mac then we don’t need him. At minimum I would put him 2RD and move Carlo down. I think you might be undervaluing how good Jones is.
