Description
Let's look at PK stats. I am looking at PP GA/60, which is basically how many goals a player allows while he is on the ice every 60 minutes shorthanded. Let's look at current Canucks players. I have only listed players who frequently kill penalties with a good sample size:

Name - SH TOI - PP GA/60 ( lower is better)

Edler- 180:12 - 7.33
Myers- 176:18- 5.79
Sutter- 116:33- 6.18
Beagle- 97:02- 9.28
Schmidt- 94:09 - 7.01
Miller- 91:04 - 9.88
Hamonic- 75:10- 12.77
Motte- 74:26- 5.64
Roussel- 70:23- 5.97
Pearson- 53:23 - 7.87
Benn- 49:27 - 4.85
Highmore- 34:22- 3.49
Vesey- 31:31- 3.81

You can see that our PK has been sub par. Edler is set to be a UFA and he leads the lead in PK minutes, although I am skeptical towards his efficiency. Miller shouldn't be killing Penalties, and Hamonic's stats are just awful. Highmore seems interesting, but the sample size is small. Here are some of the same stats for pending UFAs who we could sign.

Dmen:
Goligoski- 164:31 - 8.02
Forbort- 151:45 - 5.54
Hjallmarson- 138:30-8.66
Ceci- 134:05- 7.16
Martinez-131:07- 4.12
Larsson- 128:51-5.59

Forwards:
Goodrow-133:29 - 5.39
Wennberg- 142:39- 5.89
Coleman- 122:20- 6.38
Danault - 121:22 - 7.91
Cizaks-96:14- 7.48
Haas- 61:36- 3.90
Bonino-102:56- 4.66

Haas looks promising, he is fast and effective. Coleman can also produce offense. Cizacks is a great leader and defensive all-star. Now let's look at some trade targets:

Mayfield - 128:37 - 5.60
Sekera- 124:44- 8.18
Graves- 178:57 - 6.71
Jensen- 139:56 - 5.57

Sekera is cheap, both in value and Cap Git, but he isn't really and upgrade. Graves will also be easy to acquire, and is fairly effective. Mayfield would be the toughest to get, because I think NYI would be better off trading Leddy. Jensen is interesting. Washington needs Cap Space so it's very possible.

Looking at the same stats, this time using Powerplay goals for/60, where higher is better.

Vancouver:
Hughes- 205:26- 7.01
Boeser- 204:13- 6.76
Horvat- 193:31- 7.13
Miller- 185:21 - 7.77
Pettersson- 114:19- 6.82
Pearson- 95:24- 5.66
Hoglander- 79:45 - 3.01
Schmidt- 57:15 - 2.10

We can see how much the 2nd unit sucked, and our first unit wasn't playing amazing either. Here are some UFAs we could target:
Janmark- 99:52 - 10.21
Krejci- 128:47 - 12.11
RNH- 219:06 - 11.78
Bozak- 40:19 - 7.44
Tatar- 100:27- 7.17
Granlund- 131:05- 6.87
Palmeri- 114:15 - 5.22
Foligno- 94:24 - 5.72
Bonino- 104:53- 8.01

These are just a few, there are many more. Krejci won't dare sign here, and RNH is gonna be overplayed, so No. Janmark is interesting. He got 2.25 this year, and his season was slightly better than the previous, so maybe he gets 2.5? He had a -116 SAT. But he also kills penalties at a 7.70 GA/60, which is sub-par. Anyways, Podkolzin might be able to help out on the Powerplay. No major acquisitions should be made, although someone cheap like Bozak, Bonino, Foligno, or Janmark could be signed. Rathbone is also coming up, and I think he will become the top Quarterback, with Hughes helping to boost Unit 2

In the end, I signed Forbort, who can kill penalties with good rates, to replace Edler. Jensen will also take some of that workload, and he is an all round player who can kill penalties, upgrading from Hamonic. Haas is an underrated player with great speed, and can kill penalties with CRAZY numbers. I don't know if the numbers will maintain in more responsibility, but he has high potential. He and Motte, along with Myers and Forbort, will produce one of the best PKs in the league, and one that can provide Short Handed goals. Bonino and Pearson will take the 2nd Unit, and hopefully Podkolzin can rotate in too, as he has killed penalties in Russia. Schmidt and Jensen kill penalties. The first powerplay Unit remains the same, but Rathbone maneuvers the back. He has shown amazing flashes and insane IQ. Hughes takes 2nd unit, with Hoglander, Podkolzin, Bonino, and Pearson. If Highmore keeps up his great play, maybe he can play on the Power play too. Anyway, this team should be a contender, no?

xGA is better than GA if you're evaluating players. GA depends on the G and Demko was one of the best (probably made couple players look better).

Caps say hell yes. Get the 9th pick this year for something mid 20s to early 30s next year.

Pretty sure haas is going to europe to play, but if a team can convince him to stay in the NHL, more power to them.
