I wouldn't add two picks to Johnsson for JvR. We need picks...and have done pretty well with our late ones recently.
Also, do Rubtsov and O'Brien have any value left?

Why would COL do that? Neither of those prospects really appear to be anything but 6/7th dmen at best. That’s a no from COL.

Hogberg is 20, coming off rookie season in AHL and played really well, but in PHI hes behind Cam York, Egor Zamula (and Provorov, Sanheim, Ghost and Hagg) at LD. And Ginning is just 21 yrs old and playing very well inSweden, but theres no place for him in AHL.

Philly played 5 rookie dmen this season in LeHigh Valley. And the third is not too bad, 75th overall, but it could be before expansion draft, alklowing COL to protect someone else on D.

Partly because NJ needs a big winger with almost guaranteed production to help huges and nico grow (JVR is only 31 yrs old, no injury history and a safe bet to produce through his contract), and partly because Johnsson is a flat out dog. PHI would rather have a wood or higher picks. I put johnsson in because NJ would love to get rid of that bad contract, and JVR, even at 7mil, is worth a high 3rd.

IMO Dumba is a 2nd pairing guy and not what we need. We need that proven top pairing RHD to play with Provy

I don;t disagree, Dumba can play 20+ minutes a night and plays with an edge, the key with PHI is whether they can stop sanheim/myers/hart from regressing.

While dumba at 1RD is an option, the balance of having a physical Graves on 3rd pair and moving Cam York to RD, gives 3 good RD options and hopefully Cam York in 22-23 jumps to 1RD.

COL declines easy as the trade makes them immediately worse and dont need additional prospects (they are 49/50 contracts and cant sign the prospects already in their system)

The Devils don’t really need a big winger. They really just need to develop the forwards that they have. Plenty of size there. We expect Foote to provide a similar skill set as JVR someday (soon would be nice).

Also, have no quibble with value of deal, I just know that Fitzy, our GM, has talked about growing the total number of picks. So I doubt he moves two in one deal without one coming back.

I think more realistically, would be JVR + late pick for Johnson + mid pick.

They aren’t protecting Graves anyway even without him they have Makar, Toews, Girard, Byram, EJ(if healthy), Timmins, McDonald, Barron and Helleson, that’s 9 guys at a minimum ahead of those guys. It’s creative but say they did the trade pre XD, then Graves and for the sake of argument Donskoi are both gone and it’s justified by getting 2 d prospects regardless of who the Avs have in the NHL are behind Barron and Helleson as prospects and a 3rd rd pick. No that is an easy pass from the Avs they would just as well lose him in the XD.
