- Overpaid Grubauer by at least 2mil
- Landeskog probably takes 7-7.5mil with that much term
- who the heck is Hakanpaa and why does he slot in above Girard?? LOL
- Soderberg cant even slot in now as it is, no chance they resign him to be a healthy scratch when they have plenty of forwards trying to get in (Ranta, Bowers, O'Connor etc)
- This team isnt eligible as you are over the cap limit....

Echoing @McRanteskog, @editor9999 if EJ waives his NMC, it's probably with the agreement that Sakic will prevent him from going to Seattle. There's a fine line to walk there, but Sakic has been a man of his word in the past (e.g., the Duchene trade) so I find it difficult to see him doing this. Anything's possible, but it'll end up being one of Donskoi or Graves going to Seattle.
McRanteskog liked this.

EJ will waive knowing Seattle wont bite on him.
Graves or Donskoi is left unprotected.
I also wouldnt be surprised if they thought about protecting Donskoi and leaving Kadri available, knowing this value is low right now.

I've thought about that as well. It all depends on Joe's take of Newhook and whether he thinks he's ready. Jost has looked capable the past few months, but obviously not a long-term solution at 2C. If you put Newhook with some capable wingers, who knows what could happen?

I have not liked anything ive seen from Newhook or Ranta these playoffs.
If kadri is exposed and picked, worst case, Mack 1C, Jost 2C, Newhook/Compher 3C

Ranta's looked like a rookie who's trying his best not to make a mistake. He's not a Calvert or a LOC, so he doesn't really fit on the fourth line. Better than what Soderberg was doing though IMO. As for Newhook, he's had flashes and you can see the potential, but he needs linemates. Bellemare's used to playing the cycle game with Calvert and LOC, so it's just not working with the two rookies. As for Kadri, if he's exposed, he'll be the pick for Seattle. No doubt about it. But...that's selling about as low as you can on a 2C who has performed historically. Might not be the best asset management to just give him away for free, especially when you can dangle Graves and Donskoi and replace them with Byram/Barron and Ranta/Kaut/Bowers respectively.
