I think Colorado acutally gives you the picks back, instead of them matching I think they let you take Makar for free and will actually give you a 2022 first as well

Makar is that good I think theyd risk lose Landes before they give up Makar.

I think Colorado would actually thank you very much for getting Makar's contract done for them. Then they'd match, and continue on with their lives.

Colorado easily matches that OS on Makar, And don't even bat an eyelash.

Heck I would give him the highest offer sheet for 4 1sts honestly. We would keep 11 and lose the next 4. Colorado still matches though

I agree they’d match but they’d bat eyelashes for sure. They have a few big contracts coming up and the cap is flat for the foreseeable future. So they’d have to make some uncomfortable decisions and maybe not lose Makar or Landeskog but will need to give up other pieces for sure. They’ll be stuck with Rantanen, Landeskog, Makar, and MacKinnon (which isn’t terrible) and then not be able to afford much else beyond that. Sakic would need to get creative.

Kind of yeah. My main goal was to replace the 1st pick lost toMakar contract. But to be honest I also didn’t put much thought into the trades. Wanted to sign Makar and see what folks thought about it.

Sakic calls you to thank you for getting Makar under contract for him at such a bargain contract. Then he matches and gives you Jean Luc Foudy as a present.

Colorado has the cap space to match. But it would hurt their ability to re-sign all of Newhook, Byram, and MacKinnon---assuming Landeskog gets a market deal this year.
