Offer Petterson and Hughes matching 10 mil x 5 offer sheets and let Van decide which one they match which i'm guessing would be Petterson? No way can they afford both and still fill out a roster without selling off their whole future to dump the likes of erikson, holtby, virtanen, rousell, etc.

Vancouver isn't going to let any of them go

Offer sheets don't exist in NHL

Also you can't actually say Vancouver can't afford it. Loui is off the roster at end of next season

They can also add assets to gain capspace

He only played 8 games in 2018-2019 so it burned a year off his contract but it did not count as a year for offer sheets. So from the perspective of offer sheeting (and expansion draft eligibility for that matter) Quinn hughes has only played 2 professional seasons. You have to have played three pro seasons to be eligible.

It was the same thing with Brock Boeser for Vancouver, Charlie mcavoy in Boston, and kaprizov in Minnesota.

If you go to Vancouver’s team page on cap friendly, you will see that Hughes’S expirations status is not “RFA”. It’s “10.2(c)” which is what indicates is offer sheet eligibility

Same thing with mcavoy a couple years ago. This happens with a lot of guys taht leave college, and play a handful of games in their first year to burn a year off their ELC. It doesn’t count towards a year of service, and you need three to be eligible for an offer sheet. 10.2C is i believe what it’s called.

Besides that, despite being a solid powerplay QB, he is sooooo bad at 5 on 5. Quinn Hughes is a 3rd pair specialist, and a turnstile

Gotta be honest here with you, even if hughes could be OS, no one is going to offer him $10 milly. If some one did offer him $10 milly, I would say the Canucks do not match. Two first, a 2nd, and a 3rd is decent compensation and can be used to help rebuild this team.

It would obviously really really suck to lose hughes but signing that contract should be a no go for any GM

Offer sheets are dumb. If you OS Hughes and Petey be prepared for DeBrincat and Dach. Also you can’t offer-sheet Hughes so it doesn’t matter anyway

Go for your life, they will be signed before the OS come round. We have the capacity to give both good money.

Hawks can match any offer sheet at those two, we don't have dead weight contracts like the canucks. Plus Toews, Kane, and Kieths deals will have expired by then even

At his point Dach won't even be getting a ton of $ anyways. Probably a 2-3 year bridge. Cat will get paid though, I'm really hoping he takes somehwere around 8x8 but we'll see. Still 2 seasons to play out first before we can extend

Doesn't Cats QO start at 9m due to the fact that is what he will get paid this coming year?

doesn't mean we have to give him the QO, we can just give him an extention. Cat would probably prefer 8x8 over 9x1

true true. Flat Cap probably still so a good chance that would happen. Deserves the money IMO
