I wouldn't take Engvall for free, much less pay a third-round pick for him.

i can name at least 7 AHLers in belleville we could call up to put up 13 points in 48 games for less money than engvall makes

Shaw, Amadio, Sokolov, Bishop, Brown, Kelly, and Crookshank could all probably match Engvall’s production given the situation he was in (tough look for a guy getting 3rd line minutes). That’s not even including Abramov as he’s off to develop at home in the KHL for a couple years, but could probably step in and provide better than a point every 4 games at his current talent level. Nor is it counting Greig, who could use another year of development but is probably already good enough to provide that kinda value. Hell, even Matthew Peca provided similar levels of production at the NHL level in a 4th line role with Montreal 3 years ago. Engvall’s really not that good, and the fact that he’s making more than league min makes him very unappealing. If some team was willing to give up a 7th you’d be lucky, but I wouldn’t take him off waivers if I was most teams.
