JEE is a shooter though. We're not talking about Koivu here.
Just to put things in perspective. JEE's 17 5v5 goals (56 games) this year, is 3rd behind Staal's 18 and 22 (in 82 games) for MN centers going back to Koivu's rookie year. Anything before that I don't know much about.
Do you know how many players had more 5v5 goals than JEE this year?
3: Matthews (28), McDavid (19), Rantanen (18). 2 more also had 17: Marner and Vrana
I'm aware of all the statistics. His shooting % was well above his career average, and while I don't think that's all that important, it shouldn't be ignored. Statistics aside, it's the eye test. JEE doesn't catch and release very well, he doesn't have a very good one-T, has average/above average IQ, and isn't really all that creative. I've said multiple times, Ek is a great player and there's a ton about him that I love, but he doesn't score "goal scorer goals". He's phenomenal at driving the net, grinding and cycling, banging home rebounds, getting in good positions, etc. The list of positives goes on, but to pretend like the guy doesn't have flaws in his game is pretty homer of you.
You're not going to convince me that JEE is a high-end shooter, because my opinion on that is based on my experience as a player and years of watching as a fan, not stats. I will change my opinion if I see differently next year, but so far I haven't seen anything in his game that would lead to me to describe him as a pure shooter.
