Notes and Questions ---

- Is a 3rd enough incentive for SEA to take Soucy?
- If Rossi isn't ready, I think you can easily bring back Bonino for cheap and put him on the 4th.

3 team trade -

-PHI loses Patrick and moves down in the draft, but they get Dumba and are still able to keep a 1st.
- AZ gets a solid 1st in 13th OA, while also getting a young, high upside (albeit risky) center. But most importantly, they get a 1st this year. I still feel like this may not be enough to tip the scales.
- MIN is probably slightly overpaying in this whole thing, but getting Dvorak is probably going to require that IMO.
- The Rask dump is really not necessary, especially if Rossi isn't ready, so that one doesn't make sense. I just can't stand Rask and refuse to build a roster that includes him.

Yep so just semantics on how you define things vs how I do. I'm referring to the Gabby/Staal type, which I don't believe Ek is or ever will be. Which I also think is perfectly fine. He doesn't need to be nor do I want him to be. I just believe that shooter type of player is better suited to center Zucc/Kap than JEE's type of player. You clearly don't agree and won't view things from another standpoint, so not really worth discuss much further.

JEE is a shooter though. We're not talking about Koivu here.

Just to put things in perspective. JEE's 17 5v5 goals (56 games) this year, is 3rd behind Staal's 18 and 22 (in 82 games) for MN centers going back to Koivu's rookie year. Anything before that I don't know much about.

Do you know how many players had more 5v5 goals than JEE this year?
3: Matthews (28), McDavid (19), Rantanen (18). 2 more also had 17: Marner and Vrana

I'm aware of all the statistics. His shooting % was well above his career average, and while I don't think that's all that important, it shouldn't be ignored. Statistics aside, it's the eye test. JEE doesn't catch and release very well, he doesn't have a very good one-T, has average/above average IQ, and isn't really all that creative. I've said multiple times, Ek is a great player and there's a ton about him that I love, but he doesn't score "goal scorer goals". He's phenomenal at driving the net, grinding and cycling, banging home rebounds, getting in good positions, etc. The list of positives goes on, but to pretend like the guy doesn't have flaws in his game is pretty homer of you.

You're not going to convince me that JEE is a high-end shooter, because my opinion on that is based on my experience as a player and years of watching as a fan, not stats. I will change my opinion if I see differently next year, but so far I haven't seen anything in his game that would lead to me to describe him as a pure shooter.

You don't need a high end shooter on a line with a high end shooter (Kaprizov or Fiala) and a high end playmaker (Zucc) for 5v5 hockey. You need the net front, screen the goalie, get dirty, put the puck in the net for 3', threat to shoot when he gets the puck, guy to open up the ice so the skill players can be skill players.

All I can say is you'll hate Rossi centering Kaprizov/Zucc. He's not a shooter at all.

Aren't you the guy that doesn't expect Rossi for another 3 years? If you're right about that, and you don't seem to ever be wrong about anything, then it sounds like I have nothing to worry about smile

I expect Rossi to be a complete bust. But the GM will force him into the lineup at some point because he was such a high pick.

Rossi is a pass first guy, not quite to the Granny level of pass 1st, 2nd, and 3rd, then only shoot when there is no other option.
