tkachuk is not on the table. gaudreau and monahan are probably only traded for an improvement or shakeup in our top 6, they likely won’t get dealt for a rebuild (the possible exception is monahan if we put together a package of just futures for eichel, we’d deal him for futures either to restock or help with that if he wasn’t part of the trade)

I don’t what the value is but IMO the order would be:
Eichel
Marner
Tkachuk
Reinhart
Laine
Malkin
Gaudreau
Jones
Taresenko
Kuznetsov
Reilly
Letang
Kadri
Monahan
Risto
Dunn
Jarry

With guys like Eichel and Marner you won’t get full value in a trade because of the cap hit and also when trading franchise type guys it’s always a loss.

Plus on top of the differences people have in the value of the players listed there will be differences of opinions on the players in the return package.

Elite-to-franchise-level players:
Eichel
Malkin

Solid 1st liners:
Marner
Gaudreau
Tkachuk

Slightly above average:
Reinhart
Jarry

Slightly below average:
Kadri
Tarasenko
Rielly (although you can use him well if you have good defensive D, so his value might be higher)
Monahan

Kinda bad:
Jones
Letang
Kuznetsov
Dunn

Really bad:
Laine

When they ask you if you're fine and you're not really fine, like it's not that everyone has to see him as a valuable asset to a team, nevertheless making 5.4 million dollars somehow, it's how EVEN ONE PERSON looks at him play and thinks to themselves that he's a good addition to their NHL roster somehow:

I agree with most of your ordering particularly at the top, I’d move Reilly up some, Jones down some Kuz down to bottom 4.

Letang and Malkin are not for sale. I don’t care what some users on this website or Twitter think, they aren’t.

Lol @ thinking Letang has lower value than Malkin. Letang was in Norris contention by the end of the season and Geno is now overpaid and aging quickly. Letang is just getting better still

Explain yourself here. On what planet is Letang kinda bad?

Actually, I should correct myself. Letang is probably above average. I didn't look at his speacial teams impact, and he's good on the PK and amazing on the PP, so partly my bad - I'd c onsider him above average, but still overpaid and nothing close to a Norris candidate. Saying "he's a Norris candidate" is very circular, so I don't even know how to counter that point. "no"?. At 5on5 he's cashing in on points he's not the creator of, and he makes more offense happen in the direction of his own net than expected.

The Malkin preception on the other hand is beyond me. In terms of isolated shooting impacts, Malkin is literally close to McDavid level. He has one of the best abilities in the league. He makes his team shoot *20% more than expected* when he's on the ice. There's a handful of players with that sort of ice tilting ability in this league.

He had a down year in 17-18 in terms of isolated impacts. I don't know if that's when the 'aging' narrative started, and we've just viewed him in that lense since? But when considering team mates, competition, zone deployment, ice time, etc. Malkin is literally on some other ****. He's almost Letang level on the PP as well.
