The Vince Dunn situation seems like it's gonna become the next Devon Toews deal.

Didn't Varlamov just post a .929? And you're adding value to him to trade for 30 point Kevin Labanc?

I’d keep Varlamov and Leddy if that’s all you’re getting for them.
Cannot imagine Kulak and Dell are any better.

Wish the Leafs could be in on that, but unfortunately due to circumstances out of their control, I don't see it as an option.

Labanc has very good underlying numbers. He’s a legitimate top 6 F.

Leddy is not good but he has a good reputation so I’d rather trade him. Labanc is very underrated and the isles have sorokin + arguably the best goalie coaches in the league. They’ll be alright

I wouldn't because I think you could get more for Rielly than you would have to give up for Dunn, so might as well separate those deals, imo (don't know that it would interest the Blues either, already having Krug on the left). I also just don't know whether Dunn in Toronto is an option, given that live stream incident.

You can’t relay all on Sorokin you should keep Varlamov because that tandem works really well

Why can’t they rely on sorokin?

Well what if he gets injured? Who will start in his place? Aaron Dell is not good enough

The isles have Mitch korn the goalie guru, Dell is good enough to be successful in this system, look at what they did with Thomas Greiss

Keep in mind that was before Trotz came in as the head coach

What are you talking about? Greiss had the worst season of his career the year before korn arrived. The next season korn helped him change some things and with the isles system he became an above average goalie

Why sign a 30 Tartar at 3 years 4.5 AVV? I'd rather use that money to sign a better goalie than Dell. Or bring back Casey who I think will take a hometown discount to stay on the Island and we can keep the 4th line intact. Or give Pelech more money/more length on his contract. The Islanders are old enough I just don't see the need to sign an older guy. I also don't love that you have traded away all of our draft capital. We would be so bad in 3-5 years and we already have a pretty shallow prospect pool. I think Leddy is worth at least a 3rd or 4th.

Tatar is one of the most underrated forwards in the NHL, a legitimate 1st line winger. He's as good as Taylor Hall. I would be against giving him more term but I think 3 years is well worth the risk and it's highly likely that he will provide excess value. Cizikas is on the decline (this season was the worst of his career) and the 4th line suffered as a result. The 4th had by far it's worst impact since trotz became HC. They are all older and injury prone, you don't invest a ton of $ and term in to a 4th line. Cizikas will want 3 mill x 4 at the very least, and that would be a disaster.

The players I targeted with the draft picks are young, top of the lineup players and I didn't trade the 2022 1st. Dunn was a top 20 defenseman in the league in 19-20 season. Labanc had a top line impact this season and was among the leaders in points per 60 min on his team, but his coach didn't increase his ice time, similar to what trotz does with younger players even if they've earned it. I don't think Lou will come even close to selecting players as good as Dunn/l;abanc with 2nd/3rd rd picks. I'm not for throwing draft picks away considering the state of the prospect pool. but these players are young with huge upside.

exactly my point. Almost any goalie can be successful with milch korn and the system the isles play.

Sharks say no. Labanc is not getting dealt for a 33 year old goalie.

That doesn’t give an excuse to just trade Varlamov away they signed him two years ago and he played really well so they aren’t giving up on him

yes it is lol - he's getting older and it makes sense to sell high on him to get an upgrade at forward. It's sorokins net

Yeah I cant see SJ bringing in a goalie older than Jones and trading lebanc for the price.
