If Hyman does walk this guy would be one of the candidates to replace him

Loved watching him in the playoffs vs. Seider back in europe

Yes. This is exactly the piece we need to get past the first round of the playoffs. Another 5'10" skill guy!

Actually I argue if he was not signed for another year in the SHL he would get a look with either the marlies or potentially get a chance to be with the leafs. Honestly he would be a great bottom 6 guy for us as he basically a Swedish version of Zach Hyman.

Yes. Toronto lost to Montreal because their bottom 6 wasn't gritty enough ... Not because Matthews + Marner + Tavares combined for 1 goal in 7 games.

That's what happens when you have an Elite center shutting them down.

A point per game in the SHL playoffs as a 22 year old. I think that speaks for itself.

They need some. God they were awful this year. With the lack of Leaf draft picks in the next 2 years, Dubas has to be magic.

Holmberg is a better prospect than Seider confirmed!

I'm gonna go hit the Detroit forums and spread the word!

They did suck for sure but Toronto's prospect pool seems to be ranked very high right now.

I've seen a few different websites do rankings this season and Toronto is always between 4th and 10th in the NHL.

Which blows my mind because I don't think they even have a top 15 prospect core right now.

It's Amirov and then a bunch of bottom 9/bottom 4 tier prospects.

It depends if you consider Sandin, Liljgren and Robertson prospects.

Because those 3 are in the same catergory as Amirov I would say.

Forgot about Robertson, but I honestly haven't been impressed with Sandin or Liljegren. Sandin looked awful vs Montreal.

I've been rather unimpressed with Liljgren as well, but I gotta say Sandin was decent in the playoffs. He may not have been great defensively, but he showed he will likely be able to quarterback the first powerplay if/when Rielly leave, or even if he doesn't leave.

He's no Bowen Byram or Jamie Drysdale, but still a solid prospect that I expect to be a part of Toronto's top 4 in several years.

Yeah maybe create another tier for those 2 defenders. I don't think they will ever be top end players like Amirov or Robertson have the potential to be though.

Ya I agree, I see some leafs fans talking about how Sandin will replace Rielly. I don't think that will happen.

The leafs prospect system is top 10 (I'm a very big prospect guy, watched a lot of games when the NHL wasn't playing) (a little bias lol). One thing to remember is defensemen take much longer to join the league. Not all defensemen are Makar. Sandin is our top prospect with similar progression to Byram so far (Byram has higher upside). Amirov is a great prospect medium star potential, high nhl potential . Robertson has high upside high chance of failing (injury prone, IQ, size). Liljegren has been slowly developing in the AHL, hoping he makes the jump next year, similar development to a decent 2nd pair defensemen in his prime. But the real value in our prospect system right now is the amount of players that COULD make it. We have a lot of depth, like low chance (30-50%) players
Topi Niemela, Hallander, Abruzzese, Semyon Der-Arguchintsev, Abaramov, Kokkonen, Miettinen, Ovchinnikov, Hirvonen, Holmberg, Rindell
