I'd trade Matthews. Not for nothing, but if it helped the team I would

You definitely shouldn’t, but this is the right attitude

Marner's the more talented player, there's no denying that, but you go nowhere in the playoffs without a guy like Tkachuk on your team. Absolutely talented enough to be in the top 6, hits like a truck every shift, draws loads of penalties, AND scores goals. He is, as the saying goes, the straw that stirs the drink. That's for sure what the Leafs are missing for actual playoff success; that Gary Roberts kind of player who's skill is backed up with physical play that tells the rest of the team to wake the F up! If Ottawa made this trade they'd be hurting their future success, not helping it.

2 of his most recent (aka matured as an athelete) seasons have been shorten because of the pandemic. This past season, on an 82 game season he was on pace for 99.89 points, sue us for rounding up. His last full 82 game season, at the age of 22 years old, put up 94 points. gtfo

So what you just said is he is a 100 point player if you round up? Got it.

Nope. Just stupid to call Marner a 100 point player when hes never recorder 100+ points in any of his 5 seasons

Despite Marner being a great player, I want the guy that can affect the game every shift even if hes not scoring and that's Tkachuk. I'm sure Tkachuk would have higher totals too if he played with a Matthews or Tavares. But he doesn't. He's a 50 to 60 point player right now playing on a sub 500 team, but they are growing. Can't wait to see what he looks like when the Sens prospects mature and fill out the roster. Plus he will cost at least 3m less than Marner.
Hardest no from Ottawa... Leafs would jump on this
