Ugly stuff for Buff. And are Leafs fans dumping Engvall left and right because they know he’s useless ?

Wouldn't call marner and kerfoot ugly stuff. But you gotta look at what your team has. Which is junk. You get a c, a winger, and Def to escalate your build over the next 2 years. Maybe someone would add a pick, I doubt it. It's more then fair. Engvall is decent but you gotta bring in a different type of player at that dollar value.

It's closer than straight up. But it's whatever. Every fan base on this thing overvalues their roster. I think it won't happen because dumbas cares more about being right then winning at all costs.

Engvall is a good player its just he signed a month before the pandemic so his contract would have been find but its a bit rich without the cap going up. We can get a player that is marginally worse for $500K less on a league minimum. He is only worth having/keeping if you seriously give him time on the third line to develop. I think most Leafs fans will agree he was a great 3C when he played there during the season for a couple stretches, just need a full season to show what he would do. For a 4th or less I can see a team taking him and hoping you get a good longterm 3C you can sign to a team friendly deal.

I agree but at the same time I think Buffalo fans are underestimating two things:
1. If Eichel wants to leave his value is shot. Similar to the Hall trade once teams know you are leaving it's hard to get the max value we saw it with Karlsson/Stone/Duchene out of Ottawa. its largely the reason the Leafs would say they want Marner even if they don't.
2. Marner only needing to be paid $6.2M per year after July 1st has insane value to Buffalo. The team won't even hire a scouting staff cause they are so cheap. Saving $3.8M by trading Marner for Eichel is a dream for this ownership especially when they can say they are spending more to the cap without having to.

I don't think Marner for Eichel 1 for 1 will happen but you need to look at the history of Buffalo's ownership being cheap and team losing trades to see that whatever value you think Eichel has isn't what you will get in return. And a player like manner is a godsend for Bufallo's ownership. Similar to what Arizona is doing with Phil and has done many times with other 'retired' players.

Fair points. I think it's probably a fair assumption also to just assume he'll be gone. What we predict leafs get in return is probably irrelevant also. Just need something different in his roster spot.

Yeah. You make sound points. The proposals on this site could change drastically if different rumors and news come out about either player wanting out, etc...
